Question about Marantz SR-4300 Receiver

Standby Problem Hi, My amp has just suddenly started going to standby and needs to be powered off to bring it back on. I have been through several very hot summers with no problems, but now it suddenly seems to be over-heating or something and shutting off, it is about 26 deg C here at the mo. Any thoughts on what I may need to replace / fix or is it just too hot for it?? Thanks

I have teh same issue with this Amp, but it is no where as hot here. Is it a temperature issue? The map stays on for about 15 mins then goes to standby

    Thanks Rob

Hi,problem could be due to some voltage fl,or any component failure or may be due to the wrong connection of speakers. First check the speaker wiring,if it is ok then better to consult a professional service person. Set goes to standby means the protection circuit is turned on, normally any component failure or short circuit happens inside the amp, systems will automatically detect it and to protect it from any further damage, turns to standby.

No, I think you have a bias problem in the audio output circuit of this receiver. There is really not a lot a user can do to fix this unless you have the electronic know how and know how to trouble shoot solid state electronics. Good Luck

I have Philips Mod # HTS3371D/F7B Home T/System. I cannot bring it to life. After a period of time the standby light comes on. After pressing the standby switch, the light disappears. Tried to disconnect...

Maybe it's self-protecting.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Amp volume drop with flabby bass sound.

1) can happen if the speaker is dying - voice coil defective or magnet needs recharging. happens sometimes with low quality speakers.
2) faulty pre-amp section can reduce overall gain resulting in lower output volume.
3) for old amps dry solders in pre-amp & power amp section can have the same effect.
4) faulty coupling and filter capacitors can severely effect frequency response too.

just spoke to Samsung support and it turns out that the freeview tuner had froze and needed resetting. To do this put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu. Press the 'down arrow' untill you've highlighted option 12 - 'reset' and then press the 'right arrow' to enter the option. TV will turn off and when you turn back on it will start in 'plug & play' mode as if new. Set the time and country options and then it will perform a complete scan. I've just retuned mine and all back to normal. Hoorah!!!! :-)

Sony Triniton Wega Model KV 32HS510. After pushing the power button, the tv starts to power up, then the standby light blinks 7 times then pauses before blinking 7 times again. It continues to do this,...

This is usually an indication of a failure in the scan amplifier sections. When the scan amplifiers or high voltage sections fail, the main power supply will usually also require servicing.

It is very common that the fly-back and high voltage multiplier and also the horizontal output stage fails in these sets. Along with it, the power supply will usually require to be serviced. On rare occasions, the vertical deflection amp fails.

Standby light is a signal indicating a voltage trouble on your system . It could mean a compoment is defective or a power regulator needs replacement worse is a system IC replacing. you better bring your stuff to a Sony service center and do a check on your TV system.

Kenwood Audio Amp KA-5040R - remains in standby

Hi, Lost sole, i HOPE YOU FIND IT

Minwhile, when it works to know if you have a cold solder joint, hit the unit on the top or buttom to see if it stop working, mostlikly it will,
To fix this you must unplug the unit open the bottom cover, and solder joint that look broken off, moslity on the output stage or power supply.
What I think happening is when the unit heat's up the joint expand and doesn't do contact no more.

Another problem that this may be is a bad power supply, cap's, this can be check by freezing them to see if the unit starts again.

This is little trick of the trade, I hope this help
