I did what it was explained by ericsnow1 and I made the microphone to appear on the PS3 settings. However, to actually play the game I did not know to to make the microphone work. I did some research and you have to use an actual PS3 Controller to select you mic settings. For example, once you have plugged in you mic, you will need the controller to select songs, difficulty, etc.

beebe623 was right. with some extra steps. Simple steps here:
1. Unplug the drum receiver.
2. Turn off the PS3.
3. Remove batteries from the Drum Controller.
4. Plug in the Drum Receiver.
5. Put batteries back in drum revceiver.
6. Turn on PS3.
7. Hit the PS button on the Drums once. (all 4 lights should flash)
8. Push and hold down the button on the Drum Receiver for about 5 seconds, then release.
9. Push the PS button again on the Drum Controller. At this point the drums should be assigned a port and synced up.
All this is in the instructions that came with the game.

I now have a solution. I discovered that although the drums wouldn't sync with the drum peripheral, it would do it with the guitar. So I concluded that it was the wireless drum receiver that was faulty. I live in Australia, so I mailed it back to Red Octane (Reply paid) and received a new one in the mail the very next day! The drums work fine now.

Hi my name is Juan and unfortunately your ps3 is dead what happen is that for some reason it got so hot and the processor stop working when you turn on the ps3 it does a self test and if something is not working right it turns off immediately with a green yellow red light so don't spend your money in another power supply I can guaranty to you is not the power supply I do sell and fix playstations and this is why I know this this problem is common on the 60Gb and 80Gb also in 40Gb but not like on the 60and 80Gb
