Air compressor/ alot of air is coming out of the oil cap vent.

I have a 5.5hp 80 gallon Blackmax two stage air compressor. When the compressor is running , I am getting alot of air coming out of the vent hole in the oil filler cap. This in turn is blowing out oil and making a mess. Any ideas what is causing this. Thanks for your time.

Hello...I have a blackmax 60 gallon 6 hp compressor. Model # BL6006016. Twin cylinder, single stage. What kind of oil do I use ? Thank you!

Compressor oil is less demanding then cars, but car oil works fine. Normal 1W-40 would probably work the best.
You would hardly ever have to change it either, because there is no water, soot, or acids produced in a compressor, as there are with a car.

Oil in my air line

Oil in the air lines indicates you have air pump problems; either worn or broken piston rings or badly scored cylinder wall(s), usually both. You'll have to disassemble the air pump or take it to a service center to find out what's wrong inside pump.

Can't get it to come on when it's cold.

Warm it up with a heat lamp, hair dryer etc. Release all air pressure from the tank first. Check your oil and use only compressor oil.

Question is whether to get an Kobalt 80 gallon 14 CFM at 90 one stage or a 60 gallon IR 18CFM at 90 if the price is the same and CFM is not the issue, but the quality of the item?

your choice of an air compressor should be based on what you are going to be using it for first of all .single stage compressors are good for about 125 psi 2 stage up to 175.which whatever one you choose do not get a oilless they wont last .you want a cast iron pump which requires oil lubrication.pumps which are made of aluminum are throw a ways
