Have an iMac intel duo. have downloaded the latest software for OSX panther. have set up to go bot cannot figure out why the microphone does not work. It is a headset (brand new) with plugs for the headphone and microphone at back of iMac. Do not know how to debug or fix this problem. I am talking about skype.

Thanks Geekman but that is a formula for a pc not for a mac.
need another set of instructions.  the stuff in the skype site does not work for the newer iMac intel core duo.

hence i still need info on how to get at the mike settings for skype. some of the instructions require a mute setting which makes no sense to me.

    who knows something about this?

What are the main things we should consider, when we buying new desktop computer...?

You should consider the amount of RAM (how fast the computer runs) I would recommend a minimum of 2GB , then also the amount of HD space (the memory you can store things on like pictures videos and music) I would recommend a minimum of about 250GB or more if you have a lot of pictures and videos or like downloading a lot. You also need to consider the screen size , most screens are about 15-17 Inches but if it's a Apple iMac like mine you can get a lot bigger screens with a maximum of 27 inches which is HUGE! but those are usually EXTREMELY expensive and are usually used for video editing , games and designing. So i would recommend about a 17-19 inch screen depending on what you want to use it for. Then there is also what OS (Operating System) you want but before you can choose that you need to know if you want a Apple iMac or a Windows PC . Once you have chosen you can get an iMac with the latest OS Snow Leopard or if you choose Windows you should look for Windows 7 the latest from Windows. Also what sort of disk drive it has e.g. DVD re-writable or a light-scribe but those cost a lot. Then there's the processor i would recommend Intel . And lastly the amount of ports e.g. USB , Memory cards. Check how many USB ports there are those are the most commonly used ones.
Thanks and I hope this helps. ;)

I recently purchased a new iMac OSX, 10.5.4. I purchased "Greeting Card Creator for Mac" from Borderbund and followed all the download instructions. The download file on my iMac shows that it...

Sad to say that FixYa did not fix my problem.  It was finally resolved when a Borderbund representative advised me that I had to install "Stuffit" before I could download the software.  I purchased Stuffit and subsequently have been able to download the Greeting Card Creator.
