We have prostar dcs compact system, with lcd 128 keyset dcs phones. We need to be able to forward to an external number, but it says we must have a FWD External button which the phone does not have. Does anyone know if we can use a different version of the phone, connect it to the system that would allow this to work? Please list the phone type. If not, do you know how to program a button to be a FWD EXTERNAL button. Please give phone model number that might work. Thank you!

816's do not have the 'ICM EXT
FWD' option. This means whether the call is internal or external it
will follow the forward timer in 501.
I seem to remember an issue with external forwarding on some sw versions.

To forward to an outside number
you need to set forward COR to ALLOWED in the Class of service for that
phone in the e-manger or PCP programing. This might already been done
since you said it worked at one time. Then you have to program a speed
dial bin with the number you want to call forward to0. Then call
forward that phone to that speed dial bin.
Don't forget the 9 (for the trunk group) in the speed dial bin.

On prostar manual Forward does not mean send to external number.
You can Forward a call either to maibox, or to a different internal line .
What you are talking about is called call transfer, and it is not managed by the phone, it is managed by phone company.
Call your phone company and ask them how to transfer call to an external number.
You will be given a code that you type on the phone (eg.#123*) to activate or deactivate call transfer.
Here you go. I think this is it.
Forward To An External Number
To forward outside calls to another outside number, you can use the
FWD EXTERNAL key programmed on your keyset with the required
external number to forward to. Simply press this key to set forward-
ing (the LED lights and the message is displayed), and press it again
to turn forwarding off.
However, if you do not have this key programmed:
1. While on-hook, press the TRSF key and dial 102.
2. Dial 5.
3. Dial the trunk or trunk group access code followed by the outside
number that you want.
4. Press the TRSF key.
To turn forwarding off, dial 600.
Note:
• External Call Forward will cancel all other call forwarding instructions.
• If the Hot Keypad feature has been turned off, you must first lift the handset or
press the SPEAKER key before you begin dialling.

How can I be sure one of these phones will have the FWD to an external number needed, or is this a programable button? The phone we have now, LCD 12B does not have this capability. The manual says you HAVE to have a FWD External Number button. Can we use the 24B? Will it have a FWD button and work with the Prostar DCS Compact? Thank you.

No, we do not have call forwarding. Would this resolve the issue if we get call forwarding from AT&T that we use. Will it work with our LCD 12B phone (we use the Prostar DCS Compact phone system)? We still need to forward calls to an external number with our equipment.

Thank you for the site. My IT guy and I have read the pdf file several times, but it does not say which phone will have the FWD external button. It only says you must have it and then what to do. It does not say you can program a button. Can you tell me which phone I could order that would have that button. I looked on line at all the phones in that series, but it doesn't show a FWD external button.
I tried trsf, 102, dial 5, dial trunk group followed by outside #, but it says invalid when I try to enter the outside phone number to forward it to. It seems like the phone system we have: Prostar DCS Compact, with DCS phone 12B, version 1.3 software, will not allow it to transfer to an outside phone number, only an in office trunk number. I've tried it from our administrative phone and the phone that I need the calls to go from, ext. 204 to the new outside phone number. Do you think we will have to get a different phone system, or is there any other way to get our existing one to work? We are glad to order another phone that has more capability that works with the DCS system, like a 24 button, but I'm not sure this will resolve the issue. What do you think? Any other options?
