It may be overheating. Common problem with the dv1000. The fan may need to be cleaned or replaced.

Compressor shuting down

Either the thermostat is prematurely shutting down the compressor or the latter is overheating and the clixon is shutting it down.

The defrost timer also will shut down the compressor and all fans but that is only once every 10 hours or so to defrost unit. In about t10 15 minutes the timer will turn the compressor back on.

Toshiba Tecra M10 hanging when windows is shutting down after an update

Are you sure you are not too fast or impatient for it. Sometimes after doing updates it might take awhile to get past the Windows is shutting down...

Give it some time and see what happens. If after 15 minutes it is still there, press and hold the Power Button until it shuts off then Reboot. Try shutting down again and see if it hangs.

It keeps shuting down

If your on it and the duration is every 15 min then the unit needs to have lubrication applied between the belt and deck with a silicon base lubricant. If that does not fix the problem then you may have damage the belt and deck and they need to be replaced. Since not knowing the manufacturer' name refer to your owners manual for contact info

Shutting off

i have the same problem...laptop randomly shuts down, but its even done it within a minute of turning it on so i don't think its a heat issue. Sometimes it'll run for over an hour with no problem and never shut down, but other times it randomly shuts down sometimes within a minute, sometimes maybe 10 mins, sometimes 30 mins or more ...its maddening! i'd love to find a solution if anyone's found one. Thanks.

Computer Keeps Shuting Off/Battery is Useless

Try running a good malware program like AdAware. Often these spyware programs can driver your processor to 100%, causing it to heat up too much and shutting things down. Once you have the anit-spyware loaded, bring your system up in safe mode. This will allow the spyware to search the hidden partitions on your fd, along with the rest of the disk.
