If it was a metallic object, he has more than likely shorted something out inside the tv.. If you can open the tv, remove the object and check (and probably replace) the fuse (it will be right by where the cord goes into the tv...) then you MAY get lucky and it may work again.

Conect the latop to smart tv

most laptops have a s-video output, your tv certainly has a s-video input, and for the sound, you'll have to get a 1/8" headphone to rca jack that you can connect the headphone from the computer to the same input your s-video cable is connected to on your tv. most tv's have a connection right in the front to make this quick and easy

Remote control stopped working so i purchased a new remote control that doesnt work so now i am presuming it is the tv sensor itself

Brand of the TV? Yes it can be the IR receiver or the REMOTE switching jack if it has one in the back of the TV.

1) Test the remote:
The remote control puts out IR (InfraRed) signal that human eyes cannot see, to find out if the remote is sending out the signal or not you just point the remote at the digital camera's Lens (Digital Camera can detect IR), you should see flashing light on the camera's screen when any one of the remote button is pushed. If you do see the flashing on the camera, then the problem is in the TV IR receiver or the main logic board; more troubleshooting with scope will be needed to look at the signals.
Parts: www.shopjimmy.com

2) If the remote checked out OK, then look at the back of the TV for the "REMOTE INPUT", use a mini-phone plug and insert the plug ino the remote input jack in and out a couple times to clean the switch contacts that select between the front IR receiver of the TV or the rear panel IR input jacks.

HI! I replaced kdl 32l5000 ir board but remote still does not work. Do I have to perform any type of steps after doing such replacement?

It is plug and play. Are you getting 5 or 12vdc feeding the IR PCB assembly?
You need a scope to look for output pulses coming out of the IR board when it receiving the signal from the remote controller.

LG LCD 42 in. HDTV Television remote controller will not work even my universal remote will not work with the tv?? any sugestions as to what it could be?

Look at the back of the TV for the 'EXTERNAL REMOTE INPUT JACK (IR INPUT)'
Insert the mini headphone jack such as the MP3 player headphone jack into this IR jack in and out a couple of times to clean the switch contacts (the switch inside will select the front panel or the rear panel IR input jack signal).
Please try that to see ifit helps. Otherwise it can be the IR receiver board on the front of the TV or the processor in the main board may have failed.

Please leave rating if it helps.

How do I listen to my Sharp LC-32L400M through my home theatre system?

Depending on the home theatre system and the tv. Your TV will have an audio out of some sort ie: Headphone jack, Digital Audio Out, Or something along those lines. And as far as the home theater system what kind of inputs do you have, Aux with a headphone jack, or digital audio in something along those lines. You have to be able to match them up. For example my TV has a headphone out, and my Surround has RCA cable input jacks for the AUX. I ran a headphone jack to 2 RCA white and red plugs. Once you have to correct connections made, you may have to adjust your tv volume mine is at about a quarter the way up, But make sure when you plug it all in that you select the correct input on your Theatre system. Hope this clears some issues up for you. Cheers

Can I connect headphones to variable audio out socket using a suitable connector. the set has no headphone outlet

Although it is a variable out i don't think the audio level would be high enough to get a fair audible signal, here is something youcan try: if you have a small portable radio(like kids use sometimes with the cd/cassette/radio)with external or aux input, you can hook up the variable out from the tv to these inputs on your radio then hookup your headphones to the radio(most port. radios have headphone jacks) but with out an amplifier you will not get a lot of level out of the tv.
