Check to see if you a speaker icon in the lower r/h side of the task-bar down by the clock.
If the icon is not there right click on a blank area of the task-bar and left click 'properties'
Left click 'customize'
Scroll down to 'Volume' and select 'Show icon and notifications "
Click 'OK'
Close the 2 properties pop-ups.
Right click on the speaker icon and select 'playback devices'
The 'sound' pop up will appear showing whatever you have connected ( speakers or headset etc)
Make sure the speakers are set as default if you have more than one sound device connected.
The speakers should have a green tick (check ) when they are ready to use
Right click on the speaker icon and select 'Open volume mixer"
Check that the volume slider is above 50% and the speakers are not muted (shown as a red no-entry sign on the speaker icons at the bottom of the sliders' If muted click on the slider speaker icon.
Right click on the speaker icon and select 'playback devices' Put the cursor on the blue graph to the right of the icon, right click and select 'test' All being well the computer speakers will respond.

My hp laptop gone dump,it is not producing sound even through the headphone

* if you can connect to the internet, update your drivers using your drivers CD for the sound card. If you don't have driver CD, you can visit your manufacturer's support site and check for audio drivers.

Very low sound volume

1. In bottom right of your taskbar is an icon of a small speaker, click on that and make sure the slider bar is at 100%.
2. Click the windows button in lower left corner and then click on control panel. Then click Hardware and Sound, then click adjust system volume and make sure those are at max volume and not muted.
3. Depending on your system there may be software that installed to manage your sound card or onboard sound, if there is usually there will be an icon representing it on the lower right of your taskbar. Open that and make sure sound levels are set to max and not muted as well.
4. Make sure you plugged the speakers into the right jack in the back, sometimes when plugged into the wrong hole you can faintly hear sound but thats it, USUALLY its the light green jack you want but that can vary (some sound card/connections will have small icons by each of the colored jacks as well though they are usually faint and kinda hard to see...they can help make sure speakers are plugged into the right spot)
5. Its possible your speakers are just old or defective and simply need replaced.

Canot get sound no matter what i try

1 .
Check that your volume on your computer is not muted. Take a look at the task bar. Locate the icon that looks like a speaker. Click on it. If the mute button is pressed, click it to un-mute your computer. If your mute button is not pressed, make sure the speakers are turned up. If they are turned up and you still hear no sound, move on to Step 2.

Open Device Manager on your computer. Click "Start" or the Windows icon, then click "Control Panel." On the Control Panel menu, select "System and Maintenance" and then click "Device Manager." Provide confirmation if prompted. Click on the "Sound, video, and game controllers" category in order to expand it. Look to see if a sound card is listed. If not, you will need to install a sound card.

Look for a exclamation mark next to the name of your sound card. If there is a yellow question mark, right-click the sound card and click "Properties." Make sure the general tab is selected, and check the status of the device (in the Device status box). Go through the required steps to repair the sound card. If you do have a sound card installed and there are no errors, but you still have no audio, see Step 4.

Check to make sure your speakers are plugged into the correct jack. If you have a Usb device, it should plug into any Usb port, but if you have a 1/8 inch cable, there is a specified jack for it on the back of the computer.

Make sure that your sound card is compatible with your operating system.

No sound

If you have verified your speakers are getting power and the patch cable is plugged into the correct source output from your sound card then check your WAV and Master volume located in your task bar. Double click the speaker Icon and verify the sliders are up or they are not muted. If they are fine go to your my computer icon, right click and go to properties. From here go to the hardware tab and then device manager. Once device manager opens up see if there is a red X next to your sound card located in Sound, Video and game controllers. If there is you will need to double click on the soundcard and then click reinstall driver.

Even if there is no red X you may want to update your driver regardless.

No sound

Play any mp3 or cd with Windows media player and note if the video shows sound playing or not. If yo see the graphics, check the speakers. Many people plug the speakers in to wrong whole. Most pc's are the middle whole. Now check the mute button. On the task bar in the lower right hand corner, single or double click the speaker icon. Clear the mute button. Next, check to see if the driver is in place. If you are using Windows Right click on my computer, choose properties, hardware tab, and then device manager. Look under sound and let me know if the driver is present for sound, video and game controllers. The step will be slightly different is it is not an Xp operating system. If the driver is the problem you need to tell us what operating system, what brand computer, what model number, and depending on the brand, the serial number to locate the correct driver.

Hello there, I have a Dell computer and trying to use HP speakers with it. Will this not work? I am not hearing a sound and my computer shows no device for speakers.

The HP speakers should work fine with your Dell.
Make sure that you have the speakers plugged into the correct port on the back of the Dell (This is typically a green colored port) Once the speakers ar plugged in to the correct port make sure that your sound is not muted.

Click on Start then on Settings or Control Panel.
Once you get to the Control Panel double click on the Sound Icon.
Verufy that the sound is not muted and you can also check the box to display your voulume settings on the task bar.

You may also want to check that your sound card in correctly installed.

Check these items and let me know if there was any change because there can be other items to check - These are just a few good jumping off points
