TheWhy is there no sound on my Gateway computer is at 100 volume ?????

If you are running windows on your computer then first you should check for an icon in the lower right corner of your desktop that looks like a picture of a speaker. If it has a red circle around it with a red line through it then your speakers are muted. Simply click the icon and select the un-mute option. What this looks like depends on the version of Windows you are running. It may be another picture of a speaker with a red line through it. or a checkbox with the word mute next to it.. If your sound is not muted you can also check whether your external speakers are set as the default sound output device from here. Also you need to find out if your speakers are plugged into the sound output jack on your sound card. If you are using speakers that plug into the back of your computer then you have to make sure they are plugged in to the correct port/jack on the sound-card. If none of this makes any sense to you maybe your grandson knows if he made any changes to the settings on your computer or if he unplugged anything from the back. Check with him. If you are still not getting your sound from your comuter come back with the results of the previous instructions and we will try again.

I am having problems adjusting volume

What type of laptop HP , ASUS , COMPAQ , ACER ?..........
Up the Volume on My HP Laptop
Open the "Start" menu and click on the "Control Panel" icon.
Locate and open the icon that deals with sound.
Depending on your version of Windows, it will say either "Sounds and Audio Devices" or "Adjust System Volume."
Adjust the volume under the "Speakers" icon.
To do this, click on the slider bar and move it up on the slider.
If you need to decrease the volume, simply move the slider bar down.
Click on "OK" when finished and close the "Control Panel" window.
Click on the speaker icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen for a faster volume adjustment. Simply move the slider bar up to increase the volume and move it back down to decrease the volume.

Volume on an Acer Laptop
Acer laptops are typically sold with pre-installed Windows operating systems that offer sound-adjustment features for increasing the volume on the laptop's built-in stereo speakers.
These same functions can also be used in tandem with external speakers or headphones to increase the volume, as well as mute all sound on the laptop.
If the computer should output an unusually low volume, fixing the problem may be no more involved than sliding a control switch with the computer mouse. Click once on the speaker icon in the taskbar on the lower-right corner to open a rectangular window with a slide control.
Click and hold the left mouse button on the slide control to drag it upward, increasing the volume to the laptop's maximum setting.
Click the "Mixer" button below the slider control to open another window with volume controls for "Speakers" and "Applications," adjusting each slide control upward to increase the volume.
Be sure the speaker icon below each control is not accidentally muted.
Click once on each speaker icon to remove the red circle with a slash through it, which will restore audio.
Click the Microsoft flag or "Start" button in the lower-left corner if the shortcut speaker icon is missing from the taskbar.
Click "Control Panel" to select "Adjust Sounds" from the Hardware and Sounds category.

I have suddenly lost the sound on my windows media player I may have touched something I dont know it has been OK all this time, it plays but there is no sound please help

It appears that accidently you have clicked on the speaker icon in windows media player which has muted the sound. Please click again on the speaker icon. The sound will come back again. If it does not then check the volume settings on the task bar. This ma have been muted. Click on it and see the volume settings. The slider should not be absolutely down. Slide it up. The sound will come back again.

I cannotget any sound out of my laptop

Hi, Do you see the speaker icon on the bottom right of the task bar? If you dont see it, it means you need the driver for the sound card. In that case go to toshiba's website http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp and under downloads - select the correct model and download the driver for the sound card. If you DO see the icon and it's not muted or anything, that means it could be the speakers but I highly doubt so. I hope this helps

HP dv71020us. Owned the laptop for 13 months and this never happened before. Audio does not come out of speakers until a headphone jack is placed in one of the front holes. When there is something...

Your issue from what I read is a setting issue.
you have your setting in headphone mode from what I gather and you need to place the setting for the sound card in output mode which is in the Windows sound setting.
1.Check the task bar where the speaker icon is ( Windows 7) or Windows XP.
2. Left click here and your volume control will show with a caption of "mixer" at the bottom.
3. Left click this hyper link and it will show you the properties of the speak device.
4. If you see a speak icon on the left >> click it and you will then see a tabs window
with tab label across with "general being 1st.
5. click the "level" tab and you will see the l"line in" microphone etc. They may be muted click the muted sign to enable.
6. then check sound.

No sound from Dell Insiron Lap top

Check if hardware is properly installed.

1. On My Computer, right click then Properties. (This is only examples of what you should see on your system, but not the same model number of your laptop). You should see like this...

moz-screenshot.jpge02dd34.jpg

2. On the TABS found look for the Hardware Tab as shown below. Then click Device Manager.

4767ff9.jpg

3. Device Manager should popup showing this. And if you successfully installed all the drivers successfully your device manager should look like this. If not Proceed to Instruction No. 4

0436fc0.jpg

A. If this is what your device manager looks like then Follow this steps:
a.1 Double click the speaker Icon on the lower right of your task bar
near the system clock.

a.2 And this should popup.

a.3. Make sure all Mute check boxes are unchecked. Have a test if
its okay. If not Read instructions to No. 4

4. If you see this yellow exclamation on your Device manager saying, Multimedia Audio Controller, Audio Device of something. Then you should install the device drivers first. So you haven't stated the model number of your laptop so, you might have a CD driver packed with your laptop.

Sound problem in my laptop

Hello,

Do you have the speaker icon on the lower right? If so, check to see if sound is "muted" (turned off) . If the sound is turned-on it will have two sound waves on the right of the icon. If muted it will have a circle with a slash added to the icon. If muted click on the icon then click the speaker in the new window. Check the sound by changing the volume - it will beep when you change the volume.

If the above did not fix the problem you need to download and reinstall the sound card driver.

Goodluck!

Sound card for acer aspire 5315-2153

Go to your speaker icon on the desktop, double click it to bring up the mixer. Your Mic is muted by default. Just take the tick out of the box and you should be away.

If your running Vista, then goto Start-Settings-Control Panel-Sound
You should find the settings box for your microhone there. If not, then do the same procedure as for XP, but only click the speaker icon once and select mixer.

Hope that helps =)
