Your wireless adapter should be an N as well. If your adapter is N and it doesn't connect at N mode, try to set the router to Wide Channel range.

I have a Belkin play N 600 Router, my newer Toshiba, and my Apple, and a Dell can connect to this unit, however our HP Windows XP will not connect to this unit. I have tried to follow the direction given...

Your other computers must be connecting to the Belkin using WEP encryption if the Belkin does not support WPA encryption.
Therefore you need to configure the wireless card in the HP with the Belkin's WEP encryption key.

What steps do I take to configure my 2wire 2701 hg-b to connect directly by ethernet cable to my Directv HD DVR and pick up the dsl signal being transmitted by my primary westell router? Both are wireless...

Connect the cable at both ends and do a red button (inside card door) reset of the DVR. To test the connection, do thus: Menu -> .....setup -> system setup -> network setup -> test connection. If it shows not connected then "reset defaults" and run "connect now"
As a basic security feature the ATT DSL 2Wire 2701HG-B router/gateway requires you to enter its pre-assigned WEP key to connect beyond the unit itself and then to the internet. Since the Direct TV DVR HD24D only does a basic connection without having a place to enter the 2701HG-B WEP key it never actually reaches the internet.
The 2Wire 2701HG-B has the ability for one attached unit to "pass through" its firewall and internal security settings using a so called "DMZplus" mode. I set the HR24D DVR to such a mode within the 2Wire unit and the DVR connected with the internet flawlessly.

d. Have you check with your ISP as to the status of the your connection.
e. Have you check the status of the router ( in the wireless settings) to see if the PC unit is getting a signal.
f. What is the wireless signal strength of the PC unit / Is it showing in the status bar of the Windows screen you are using.

My unit only showed a RED LED when powered up.

Try resetting it once. That will bring it back to factory Defaults. That should help . try connecting to your computer to see if you have a valid connection. If this still doesnt work , you might have a dead unit.
Thanks

Hi blanx - don't rate this yet. Are you just trying to access the D-Link to secure the network? Have you determined your setup and simply need to secure the D-Link? Thanks.
