Question about Plantronics Audio™ 350 Headset

1 Answer

Microphone fuzz So I seem to have some kind of chronic headset microphone problem. No matter what amount of money I spend on headsets, they ALWAYS seem to be fuzzy on the other end when I use the mic. I don't (and can't) use USB ones, because all my USB ports are used up with various other things. Now, i KNOW it's possible to have clear mic sound because several of my friends have clear sound. I often have to repeat what I say because the fuzz is so bad. Anyway, currently I'm using a Plantronics Multimedia Stereo Headset (Audio 350) with Windows Vista as my OS. I've tried it with various programs like Ventrilo, MSN, built-in game voice chats, etc. and it's still always fuzzy. The sound in the headphones is great though... Could this be some kind of problem with settings? or am i pretty much just doomed to be out of luck with microphones forever?

Try turning the microphone volume down in your sound settings - fuzziness is usually caused by trying to amplify the signal to a higher level than it can carry.

For your own piece of mind, you might also want to check your headset on someone else's machine - that will pretty quickly distinguish between a headset and a computer problem.

I bought a samson se50 headset microphone to go with my GTD Audio wireless system. It has the correct adapter plug to plug in to the transmitter. The plug is a mini XLR plug. The microphone does not...

You need power from the transmitter to power this mic. See your mics specs to determine if it needs "Phantom Power"
Perhaps the transmitter doesn't supply power. Condenser mics may not work. Stay with the dynamic type. IMHO

My headset is activated and it shows its connected to the phone but i cant seem to talk through it. what can be the problem?

Hi,i think there is a problem with the connection, here is the solution Disconnect the headset from the phone and turn off the bluetooth on the phone, after 10mins turn on the bluetooth on the phone and reconnect back to the headset. However if the problem persists,it means the problem is from the headset microphone, you have to take the headset apart and clean the microphone with cotton wool dampened with spirit. Thanks and take care however if the problem persist

The mute button on these is the little black button on top of the earpiece. It will only be on if you turn it on during a call. If you turn the headset off, the mute button goes off as well.
Check the compaibility 'wheel' on the side of the base station. The most common setting is 1 but some phones use 2,3 & 4. Just try it on each setting until it works. Other than that, check the microphone volume adjust setting underneath the base (ABCD switch) and see if changing that makes a difference. Of course there is always a small chance that the microphone is dead.

Microphone

Hi,

To figure out which of the 4 wires go where, you would need access/use of a continuity tester (ohmmeter). You have to wing it from the ohmmeter reading to distinguish the ground/common, left, right and mic. Please refer to the diagram below.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
