Question about Epson Stylus Photo R220 InkJet Printer
This indicates a so-called "fatal" error. Because your print-head cannot fully move into its parking position on the right, it seems likely that the parking mechanism has come adrift. Turn the printer on, and as soonas the print head tries to move, pull the power cord out of the printer. You should now be able to move the print head (gently) out of the way and see into the parking area. If there is a plastic rod sticking up, ull it gently towards you and it should snap down out of the way. The printer should now work. If the problem re-occurs, it means the mechanism is clogged up with dried ink. Try repeating the above process a few times to see if it clears it.
If you see that the whole parking mechaism has come adrift, this almost certainly means the front spring has come off. This will require the printer to be dismantled I'm afraid, so will cleaning the print mechanism. Service Manuals are available to help with this.
