Re: when mc70 is in standby and receive a sms , says...
Is there a chance the account on your wireless carrier has had text messaging disabled? This is done sometimes to eliminate the cost of text messaging. Who is the carrier?
Also, I've seen something similar to this long ago when dealing with the AT&T / Cingular merger. Some of the "old" SIM cards did some strange things. ATT replaced them but I thought it was a hassle porting the phone numbers.

verify that you have at least two bars and hard reset (take battery out while phone still on) also make sure your message center number is programmed correctly which you will have to contact service provider to verify. if none of that work have your service provider canc your registration and then re-register your device.
Performing a Clean Boot THIS WILL TAKE IT BACK TO THE FACTOR SETTINGS A clean boot resets the EDA to the factory default settings. All data is the Application folder is retained. You must download the Clean Boot Package file from the Support Central and install on the EDA. NOTE When the EDA powers up after inserting a battery for the first time, the device boots and powers on automatically. CAUTION A clean boot should only be performed by an authorized system administrator. You must connect the EDA to AC power during a clean boot. Removing AC power from the EDA during a clean boot may render the EDA inoperable. To perform a clean boot: 1. Download the Clean Boot Package from the Support Central web site. Follow the instructions included in the package for installing the package onto the EDA. 2. Simultaneously press the Power button and the 1 and 9 keys. 3. Immediately, as soon as the device starts to boot and before the splash screen is visible, press and hold the left scan button for a few seconds. 4. Insert the EDA into a powered cradle. 5. The EDA updates and then re-boots. 6. Calibrate the screen. Waking the EDA The wakeup conditions define what actions wake up the EDA. Please try this to find a solution to your problem. Go to Messaging window and select More. Select Settings and SMS account subsequently. Make sure that the 'Connection Type' is 'GSM preferred'. And in the 'SMS Service Center Address' check with your operator Customer Care and make sure the same number is entered. You could tell the Customer Care of your problem and that you wish to verify if your using the correct service center address.
The SMS folder dissapears most probably because another program interferes with it. The same happens on some HP's with camera, where this options dissapears from menu because of some user installed programs.
In your case, it doesn't have to be a SMS - messaging related program, there are some compatibility issues and programs that apparently doen't have anything to do with messaging are causing this.
You should first try a master reset (hard reset) (save your data first). However in some cases this doesn't help, even if the program that's causing the problem is removed, and you will need a firmware rewrite/update. In order to perform this, or if you don't want to risk performing it yourself please contact me on the live assistance for step by step instuctions.
Good luck, Bogdan.
