Question about Dell XPS M1330 Notebook

1 Answer

Dell m1330 will not boot

Dell m1330 laptop. I tried to turn it on but only got as far as a blank screen. Did this 6 or 7 times. Finally it started to boot and I now get the message ' the last attempt to restart the system from its previous location failed. Attempt to restart again?' It then gives two options:-

Delete restoration data and proceed to system boot menu

or

Continue with system restart

I am very relectant to select either as I cannot understand why it would not boot in the first place. It had been turned off properly the night before. Any help greatly appreciated.

How to reset dell xps m1330

Hello,

You may follow the steps mentioned below to restore the Dell XPS M1330 to its factory default:

1 Turn on the computer.

During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

2 Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press <Ctrl><F11>.

If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let the computer finish starting, and then restart the

computer again.

NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.

3 On the next screen that appears, click Restore.

4 On the next screen, click Confirm.

The restore process takes approximately 6-10 minutes to complete.

5 When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.

NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer completely reboot.

6 When prompted, click Yes.

The computer restarts. Because the computer is restored to its original operating state, the screens that

appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that appeared the first time the

computer was turned on.

7 Click Next.

The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.

8 After the computer restarts, click OK.

9 You will need to run Windows Update as well as Live Update for your virus protection as these will be seriously out of date.

Hope this helps..

How do i restore my dell m1330 laptop back to factory settings.

Please restart the laptop and hit the following key during the dell screen boot up phase depending on the os that is installed on your laptop. For vista systems it is F8. XP systems Ctrl-F11 to run the pc restore.

*Note this solution will only work if you have not removed your original restore partition by installing another os over it.

Let me know if you need any further help.

My dell xps m1330 will not boot up.it comes up on screen saying ''no boot sector on internal hard drive'' ''no bootable devices''it has had a new motherboard fitted by Dell.i'm trying to install xp pro

When it's booting, try to access the setup, aka BIOS. See if you can set CD/DVD as a booting option. As the top BOOT device. Then see if you can boot your installation CD. You may be able to format your drive during the installation - if the hard drive hasn't failed?

When i push on the on/off button, the screen lights up but is blank. I have tried shutting it down, pulling out the battery and trying to start up again many times. The screen comes on, lights up, but...

Try plugging in an external monitor. Not a flat panel, just a regular CRT is preferred. See if you get a picture. This will tell you if it is the LCD screen on your laptop or a CPU problem.

Faulty LCD Inverters were causing similar power problems on dell laptops. if you know how you can remove the lcd screen and try run it on an external monitor, if it works, replace the LCD Inverter.
