Question about Nikon COOLPIX L18 Digital Camera
The battery is exhausted but i cannot get it to charge whatsoever. The battery is still live?
This might not work with all cameras, but please try it anyway....
Take out your battery and memory card. Put them back in, then see if it resets.

Hi, that happened to mine too but I found out that there was nothing wrong with either the camera or the battery. Simply put it, the charger that came with the camera is not capable of charging the battery up after it has been totally drained. Thus, I bought a charger to charge my battery separately and now it works totally fine.

I just purchased a new battery door for $15 with shipping from nikon. They sent a simple assembly diagram and I was able to replace the door in 30 minutes. I used a dremel to cut the old door off, but you dont have to do that. I got a little impatient.
Just buy the plastic piece and u can reuse the metal parts for your old battery door.

SOURCE: My Nikon Coolpix S3000 says
The rechargeable battery probably needs to be replaced, I would take it to a camera shop let him have a quick look to make sure the charge light is coming on and try a new battery.

About how long ago did you get this camera? How often do you charge the battery? How long do you generally leave the camera charging for?
These are three questions you need to ask yourself with most devices that come with battery's, such as cameras, laptops, cell phones, etc. Namely because these battery's don't last too well over time without the appropriate care. Any one of these devices can be "over-charged" and effectively kill the longevity of the battery, thus necessitating in the purchase of a new battery. I would say you can typically see adverse effects before the device is a year old if you leave the battery plugged in for long spans of time after the battery is charged, and if you often charge it despite it not being anywhere near dead. If the device is rather new, and it still won't turn on. Try plugging the camera in, and ensure that the proper lights are on to identify that the battery is charging properly, or try bringing it to the place where you purchased it and have one of the associates there check it out.
Hope this helps!
