Question about Krups Burr Coffee Grinder

Open Question

Krups Burr Coffee Grinder fineness control not working

The grinder is only grinding fine no matter where the selector is positioned. Also, the selector switch seems to catch and then snap as it moves through the dial. It seems the selector switch is broken? Anyone else run into this?

SOURCE: I have a Krups GVX1 burr coffe grinder.

You will have to disassenble the grinder by removing the screws from the bottom of the grinder. You should be able to get to the thermal fuse once you gain access to the insides.

Well worth attempting the repair if you have the replacement thermal fuse needed and can handle a soldering iron to unsolder and soldering needed to remove and replace the failed part.

The thermal fuse isn't like a normal glass tube automotive fuse, but you should be able to get a replacement one from Radio Shack, if you can't get one from the manufacturer.

Hope this helps you get it fixed and best regards!

SOURCE: Krups model KM7005 water wont heat

Mine had the same problem ... all the lights are on, but no heating on the plate, and no dripping of water.

After a weekend on the workbench, I've mastered this machine. The KM7005 has 2 x MicroTemp G4 thermal cutoff (TCO) fuses which interrupt the Live line, for overheat protection. Mine didn't overheat per se, but the TCO blew anyway. Not reset-able ... need to be replaced with a soldering iron. I'll be happy to advise you to fix this, or fix it for you. Write me at KM7005@flightsystems.biz.

Burrs spin but no grinding

Try this, remove the bean hopper, and vac out the burr chamber, then put 1 tablespoon white rice in the burr chamber and cover with hand and turn grinder on, if the rice grinds, then your grind might have been set too fine. Turn the grinder towards fine until you can barely turn the burr nut, you will feel them touching, then turn course about 16 notches (do not use numbers, use the small notches around the rim), that should give you a great starting point for your grind.

With the dial turned to "Turkish" I still get a very course grind. How to adjust/fix?

On the adjusting knob there are 2 set screws (outside of the center) and an adjustment screw (the one in the middle). First make sure the LARGE screws on the side of the SELECTOR plate are tight. Start with the selector on Turkish, with the grinder OFF loosen the set screws about one full turn each. Leaving the selector on Turkish turn the grinder on and gradually VERY SLOWLY turn the center screw clockwise. Eventually you will hear the burrs inside touching. After they touch back of the center screw about 1/8 of a turn. Tighten the SET SCREWS tight as they may allow the grinder to go out of adjustment if not tight. Test the grind with very little coffee and throw those grounds out. Then grind and brew! If these grinders are adjusted too fine you may have problems with the grinds not falling and may back up.

Kitchen aid burr grinder adjustments

You are correct, the grider positions are locked internaly so the grinder will not go too fine since this can damage the blades and also too fine need more power from motor and also can block it by rottating normaly. However you ir open the grider you can overcome the lock and udjust so the grinder can grind more fine coffee. In order to be always at the safe side just move gradualy step by step until you find the perfect grinding and adjust so that will be the minimum plus one mor move for furure adjustment if you need.
Just for reference the corect grinding is for 7 to 7.5 gr of coffee the running time of the coffee from your machine should be 25 sec for 25 cc of coffee aprox.
Good luck.

Cleaned the Solis Maestro grinder and re set it to a fine espresso setting but the grind is coming out very course. What should i do?

Hi Your burr is not locked in. You need to remove the beans from the hopper. Remove the hopper. Remove the burr. Turn the grinder upside down over the trash can. Put the burr back in only make sure that the burr is down. Install the bean hopper and when you turn the bean hopper it should move the burr. Then you can adjust your grind. Make sure that the grinder is running is your going to a finer grind or you could break the grinder. You can turn it to a coarse grind any time.

My Barista Burr Coffee Grinder suddenly grinds too fine.

If it is any consolation, mine just did the same thing, now takes too long to grind and it is way to fine dispite a thorough cleaning by disassembly.

Parts and Grind Selection

The current Kitchenaid A9 burr grinder glass jar is interchangable with the original Hobart/Kitchenaid A9 glass jar; therefor, the gasket should also interchange - contact Kitchenaid customer service to order a gasket.

Setting the grind is accomplished by grasping the body of the ginder in one hand and the grind-selector ring (collar that the jar screws into) in the other. Hold the base tight and turn the selector ring clockwise for a finer grind, counterclockwise for coarser. Be careful not to completely unscrew the selector ring; if you are not sure how much adjustment is left, screw it all the way clockwise until it stops (finest grind); then, back it off, up to one full turn to make the grind coarser.

The selector ring has the words coarse, medium and fine cast into it; these are rough postition markers. There is a triangle cast into the body of the grinder, just above the brand name, that can be used to diral in a preferred level of grind. I use a medium-coarse grind for drip coffee makers; to do likewise, position the selector ring so that the triangle is pointing midway between the words coarse and medium.

GVX2 krups coffee grinder; how to open it?

I have the same issue. You need to take both dials off, then on the bottom, there are 4 tabs on the inside. Seperate the halves and you will see them. Towards the front and halfway back. Pry the halves apart enough to push the top towards the bottom and it slides apart pretty easy. The tricky part now is finding the replacement part. I have super glued my switch and I want to do something to try and repair it further. Maybe epoxy. I called Krups and they can't sell the part to me. I called one of their service centers and they can't sell the part to me. So, if someone knows where to get the part, I am all ears :)

Fill out water

The Krups Burr Grinder GVX2 featured in the picture is not a coffee maker, per se, it only grind coffee beans to use in other coffee makers. It is a lousy machine, and I would recommend returning it or not buying it.
DO NOT PUT WATER INTO THIS MACHINE. It will cause electric shock.
