Our 2 Gig Triple external hard drive mounts, but then the LED lights on the back flash between red and blue very quickly, like an alarms is going off. It seems like the drive might be moving slower than normal, but I can't be sure, I'm just concerned that the drive is freaking out.

Your alarm is ]n valet mode. If your led is pod mounted there is a button in back of it. If your led is hard mounted in the dash, you'll have a hidden switch usually mounted on the kick panel or under dash. Either way, turn on ur ignition push the button turn off the key, your led should go out. Hope that helps.
have you checked the output on the power adapter when you plugged in? if not, there is no hard reset for the drive. you just have to isolate the board on you external hdd.
how do I fix my external hard drive, because one day I turned it on and the drive was fine, the next day when I turned it on, it kept on flashing blue, does that mean that the drive is dead. Please help me with this.
the Hatachi 80 gig looks the same as the 120 gig verbatum 47558
also had the same blue flashing light and no recognition by XP
I open the case and removed the drive from the pc board. cleaned the contacts and reconected the PC board , the fault was oxidisation
Hi Vieve,
The manual says nothing about flashing red and blue nor could I find anything of any real substance. Basically this thing is a box containing an IDE hard drive and some electronics that interfaces the drive with firewire, power distribution and a few other odds and ends. I suspect the board that contains the electronics may be damaged, however, its entirely possible that this may be some undocumented error that can be reset. I would try calling the vendors tech support, it?s at least worth a shot.
If getting your data off is the concern it might be worth your time to buy another enclosure, install your drive and plug it into your Mac. There is a good chance your data is recoverable.
Sorry I couldn?t get you a more definitive answer.
If I remove the hard drive from the enclosure, then there is nothing for the computer to mount...what do you mean?
