I can only get the bobbin wind up half way?

So the thread is filling only the bottom half of the bobbin? When winding (slowly), use a pencil, stilleto, or something similar and lift the thread between the thread tensioner and the bobbin to help fill the top of the bobbin. Your machine's winder probably needs an adjustment or the thread path for bobbin winding is not correct.

Singer 9217 thread winds under bobbin instead of on bobbin

Make sure the bobbin is seated all the way on the winding pin. There may be an adjustment for it--a technician can probably fix it for you. However, you can also try lifting the thread with a pencil tip just before it winds onto the bobbin. Some of my machines wind the thread unevenly (more on the bottom than the top of the bobbin) and I balance it out by lifting it when winding.

Bobbin refuses to be wound on self-winding bobbin machine. Bobbin does not turn. The thread is winding continously on the bottom of the bobbin basket. Need help.

Just off the top of my so-called head, it sounds like something in the bobbin area is not seated correctly. However, I would recommend that you do a search on FB and Yahoo interest groups (also on PSW software); it's members are MOST helpful, and will be glad to work with you to resolve this problem.

What is the correct way to wind and insert bobbin in elna machine?

You always wind the Elna 7 hole bobbin with the holes on top, and load it into the bobbin case the same way, this means when you draw the bottom thread off the bobbin, it will turn anticlockwise.

My elna sewing machine bobbin won't spin on top to wind thread around. The fly wheel spins though...I've been putting thread on the bobbins by hand.

If the fly wheel is going around then the clutch isn't disengaged to wind the bobbin, you need to pull out the flywheel on your model to disengage the clutch for bobbin winding.

Take thread from thread spool across to bobbin winder thread guide, then back to bobbin and thread the tail through the hole on top of the bobbin. Place bobbin onto spindle on top of machine and then push it against the stop to engage the bobbin winding motor. HOld the thread tail up and start winding slowly until the bobbin core has been covered including the starting point. Stop and trim off the thread tail with scissors. COntinue winding bobbin and give the thread a nudge if needed to wind evening top middle and bottom of the bobbin. A good smooth wind is important. Also don't wind at full speed and keep an eye on the thread reel that the thread is coming off, you don't want it bouncing around as this will **** the thread and stretch then relax it affecting your bobbin wind.

Obviously if you know this and the bobbin winding mechanisim is just not working, then it will need a service/replacement by an Elna repair person.

Bobbin thread keeps knotting

1. Do you mean that there are knots in the bobbin thread?
2. Is the bottom thread in your stitching looping and knotting.

If yes to 1. you need to rewind your bobbin fresh, and keep slight tension on the thread reel that you are winding it from. Put the handle of your scissors into the top of the reel to apply a gentle pressure while winding. Keep your eye on the bobbin as it winds and give it a nudge with a finger tip to ensure it winds the bobbin evenly top, middle and bottom.

If yes to 2, then you need to check your bobbin threading, is the thread even under tension. Is the bobbin tension set correctly. Break out your manual and revisit this to ensure it is set correctly.

INSTRUCTION BOOK FOR DESIGNER 1 DOES NOT COMPLETE INSTUCTIONS FOR BOBBIN WINDING - SAYS TO PUSH BOOIN DOWN WON'T HAPPEN

I'm not sure what you mean about this. When you want to wind a bobbin, you put it on the bobbin winder pin on the upper right side of the front of the machine, and then push/slide it down towards the bottom of the machine; it goes about an inch or so, and then the screen will say "bobbin winder engaged." The bobbin is now in line with the fat lever that will automatically stop the winding when the bobbin is full. (I usually use my fingernail to guide the thread up and down a bit so that the bobbin is wound smoother.) If you have the same manual I have, that came with my machine about 4-5 years ago, the two pictures on the bottom right-hand side of page 10 will show you what I mean. -- BTW you can wind a bobbin with the machine threaded or not threaded. (pages 10-11) Also, always be sure to wind the bobbin with the logo-marked side up, the same way you place it in the bobbin holder when you are ready to sew. -- I hope this helps.

Bobbin won't wind correctly!!

Iam very picky about my bobbins!

make sure you are threading the machine for the bobbin correctly, In my opinion I don't think any machine really winds well.

What I do is hold the thread about an 1" away from the bobbin. start to wind and I guide the thread slowly up and down the bobbin so that it winds even
