Just to verify you are trying to program frequencies the scanner is able to receive.
This unit is limited to the following freq range.

29.7-49.995
50.0-54.0 5

420.0-449.99375
450.0-469.99375
470.0-512.0 6.25

If the frequencies your are trying to enter or outside these bands you will get a error.

Next Direct Entry Mode Programming

I can't locate information specific to the 210XW, but hopefully this generic Bearcat programming info will help:

1. Press the MANUAL key to advance to the channel that you wish to reprogram.

2. Enter the new frequency, including decimal point.

3. Press the ENTER or E key.

4. Start over with step one to continue programming channels.

I tried to program the codes in and it isn't working. What am I doing wrong?

Without knowing what you're doing, it's difficult to tell what you're doing wrong, but the first step is to refer to "frequencies" - not "codes". You didn't mention whether or not you have the owner's manual for your scanner, but that's where the best programming instructions can be found. If you don't have the manual, you can download and print it, at no cost, here:

http://www.uniden.com/pdf/BCT7om.pdf

You also need to make sure that you have the current frequencies for your area, and remember - your scanner will not work with trunking systems. For a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area, and a lot of other useful scanning information, visit:

I have reset my uniden bc scanner and am trying to re porgram frequencies in i press hold, put in frequency number , press func. and then prgm. and it keeps telling me error. What could be wrong?

First, be sure that the frequency that you're trying to enter is withjin the scanner's tuning range. The ERROR message will appear if you enter an invalid frequency.

Second, follow this sequence to program a known frequency:
- Power the scanner ON.
- Press HOLD.
- Enter the number of the channel you wish to program.
- Press the Func and Pgm keys (channel number will display).
- Enter the frequency, including the decimal point.
- Press E to enter your information into the scanner's memory.

BCT7 looses programing when power loss occurs whenever the unit is powered on. The unit does not loose programing when the unit is powered off. What gives?

I had the same problem with my BCT7, and after a little research, found this memory backup cap as the problem. It is located next to a transformer near where the 12vdc plugs into the circuit board (the cap is only about a 1/4" tall).
You can get one cheap from the following dealer:

How do you set up the scanner to scan police and ems channels

First you'll need a list of frequencies to program. For a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area, visit:

www.RadioReference.com

Once you've selected your frequencies, power the scanner ON and

1. Press E/PGM to enter the program mode (the scanner turns on the
PGM icon).

2. If the current channel is not the one you want to program, enter the
memory number then press HOLD.

3. Enter the frequency including the decimal point, then press E/PGM.

4. To program the next memory, press or and repeat step 3. To
program a different memory, repeat from step 2.

5. To exit program mode, press HOLD or SCAN or change the scanner’s mode.

Notes:
• Any frequency you program replaces the previous memory contents.
• If you enter a frequency you have already stored in a different
memory in Step 3, the scanner beeps and displays the channel
where you have previously stored the frequency. If you want to store
the frequency anyway, press E/PGM a second time in Step 3.
• To clear the contents of a memory, enter “0” in Step 3.
• Channels you program are automatically unlocked (see
“Locking/Unlocking Memories) and have Delay turned on (See
“Setting Channel Delay”).

I want to unblock my uniden bct7 scanner, Can anybody tell me how

The BCT-7 covers popular frequency bands, skipping things like television signals, non-voice (data) bands, and banned (cellular) bands. It cannot be modified to receive other frequencies. Need the manual for your scanner? You can download/print it here:
