Make sure squelch and RF gain are both set properly and if the unit has a socket on rear for external speaker try that---note that a wire broken in the mic cable or plug will kill receive audio as well.

SOURCE: Galaxy DX99V

The RK56 was a good mike until Telex bought out Turner many years ago. Now the audio output is lower than it used to be & it's not a compatibility issue as Galaxy radios have microphone amplifier circuits similar to most other CB & 10-Meter radios. You'd have been better off buying an Astatic 636L or even a generic noise-cancelling mike instead. The only thing I can recommend is to hold the mike on your cheek, close to but not directly in front of your mouth, with the grille facing it & speak in a louder than usual voice.

SOURCE: refurbished dx 959 from galaxy no modulation? no transmitt?

If there is no transmit at all, it sounds like it wasn't fully refurbished. If it is just low modulation then just turn VR16 and VR14 all the way to the left.

If its not working at all, send it back. It hasn't been refurbished.

Overheating when keying mike to talk

This is almost ALWAYS caused by a poor antenna connection forcing the radio to dissipate the heat generated when transmitting.
Look for an open connection from your PL-259 plug where it connects to your radio or a dead short to ground in your antenna cable.

Hope this helps

I have a galaxy dx33hml with 120 channels im trying to tune it to regular channels how should i do this

The hml has not been in production since 2006. If you Love that specific radio the first thing I suggest before attempting to tune or mod replace all the capacitors they may have leaked or dried up especially if left uncovered for a long period. But I would not bother when the galaxy 33hp2 updated the model with dual finals for under a couple hundred dollar. The radio is easily converted with info you could gain from here or a cb forum.

Google search suggests it's a 10m HAM radio.  CB radio is on a different frequency (around 11m)

You might take a look at this page which looks like it is talking about how to convert this radio to CB.

(Disclaimer: note that it's illegal to run more than 4W on CB channels in the US)

Hope this helps

Rushing sound (noise) galaxy 88 HL

RUSHING SOUND ?
1. Get the noise then disconnect the coax and see if noise goes away on receive, if noise goes away then address the ground on your antenna,
if noise still there then address the ground wire from power source
