The Philips parts network may be in tattered condition currently because of their abandonment of the US market, turning over everything to Funai, a Japanese maker of miserable junk.

Cd player keeps saysing no disc

There are other reasons that the player may not detect a disc. One of them is the platter height of the spindle motor- they go out of position sometimes as they are pressed on plastic. It may need to be set back to the standard. You can also have a bad spindle motor that can not spin up or has a dead spot on the motor. Many possibilities.

Have a Denon DN-C635 CD player . Replaced motor spindle / laser assembly (plug and play part assembly from Denon $45 old price $151) It loads disc , voice coil moves laser lens up and down but spindle...

Dave, Holding the motor spindle / laser assembly in a position where the white ribben plug in receptacle is facing in an upward position, look down to the lower left hand corner of the print board just under the plug in. You will see a small blob of solder bridging two contact points. Remove this solder bridge. I have found two new Denon assemblys with this problem.........*****

Everything works except the unit that turns the CD's so they won't play. Can we order and replace that unit or would we be better off just replacing it?

could be a simple spindle motor failure...or possibly the laser assy...the way it works is the laser needs to "see" a disc when it loads into the player. If the laser is defective, then it won't "see" a disc, thus it won't play...sony parts aren't cheap..especially if you are talking about replacing the whole transport...see if you can give the spindle a little spin with your finger and then try it...it may start working...you want to try to narrow the problem down to a single component in the interest of cost...

Cd not recording

Be sure to "finalize" the recorded cd before use in another cd player. Another thing is there are always a few bad discs in a spindle of blank discs... And sometimes you will get "check disc" or "bad disc" when a blank disc is inserted. I would be sure to use blank discs for audio use, not computer use, with your Yamaha.

Music plays normally at first then begins to cut out. The problem gets worse as the CD continues to play. RCA RP8070 Five Disc Changer. THANKS

There is a problem with the laser pic-up assembly(eye) 1st,2nd, 3rd,4rth music/track are recorded on disc from the center to edge.As the laser moves toward the edge the laser can't read perfectly the stored data on the disc. possible cause:the disc is in figure of 8, the lens needs cleaning, the suspension of the laser assembly, poor recording speed, spindle motor and voltage fluctuation of VCC

No spin

Laser spindle motor. Make sure to get one with the same length shaft - will cost $3 or $4 max and a bit of soldering after removing the drive unit.Or if you can't find one, a new complete laser assembly will have a new spindle motor already fitted - price depends on model of laser.

Machine malfunction

Had a similar thing - the belt running from the tray motor to the gears is worn. It can't grip the spindle to open the tray unless there is a disc in the tray. Change this and it will open no problem.

Harman kardon CDR 26 cd recorder

It's the belt from the spindle motor to the gear. It's worn and can't grip the spindle anymore. If you elp it to start off it works. Open the unit, remove the cd tray and it's underneath at the front. You can replace with a similar size elastic band.
