I press the open button on the remote and the dvd player itself and nothing happens. No sound of the motor, nothing. The display reads open or close so the unit is working ok, i think the the tray motor died. I can manually open the tray so its not stuck. Any ideas? The item is also 3 months old! Are there any disassembly guides or repair guides out there so i can replace the motor myself? All help is appreciated. Thanks

Please follow the instructions below for unlocking your Philips HTS 3371 Please note: Unlocking a DVD player may invalidate the warranty. Unlock sequences may not work with some firmware updates and some DVD players have been damaged through failed attempts to unlock them. Unlocking your DVD player is done at your own risk.
1. Switch the DVD player ON 2. OPEN the disc tray 3. Key 9 9 9 9 0 using the Philips remote control supplied with the player 4. Press PLAY. The disc tray will close. 5. Switch the player OFF then switch ON again. 6. To test, play a disc from a region which was previously locked.
If it does not work the first time, switch the player off and back on, then try again.
This is a verified unlock method, but I was unable to confirm whether it works for players sold locked to Region 1 (North America). If you have a Region 1 player and the method above does not work, you will not be able to unlock your player.
First attempt is to turn off the DVD Player, unplug the DVD player power cord from the electric supply, wait about 5 minutes, plug back the power cord, turn on the DVD player, press the open/close button.
If this does not work, the DVD player cover will have to be removed and the tray manually operated to determine the cause for it not being opened electronically. This might require the services of a technician.
Same thing happened to mine. I called customer support and got it fixed. Unplug the DVD player for 30 seconds. Hold in the open/close button while you plug back in. Keep holding the open/close button and it will open in about 5 seconds. It is some kind of reset code from overheating.
The reason for the error message is because your DVD player is set to one specific zone.
The below procesure will open the DVD player to play all zones.
TURN ON THE PLAYER PRESS OPEN/CLOSE USING REMOTE PRESS STOP-7-3-4-4-6-6 YOUR REGION AREA WILL APPEAR.
PRESS "0" TO UNLOCK (OPEN the DVD player to ALL zones) ALL, THEN WAIT.
INSERT YOUR DISC.
Hope this helps. Let me know the status.
You can try reseting the unit.
Reset the set to the default factory settings: All the information stored
(programmes, time and date) will be lost.
1. Disconnect the set from power supply.
2. Press and hold down "STANDBY•ON" on the set and reconnect the set.
3. As soon as "IS TV ON?" is displayed, release "STANDBY•ON."
Hopefully reseting it will clear whatever problem it is having and allow you to once again use your DVD player.
Hope this helps. Good Luck.
Once you have connected your dvd player to your tv and the tv is turned on.
Turn on the machine and press "disc" on the remote control.
Open/Eject the disc tray.
Press STOP on the remote control.
Enter the following numbers slowly on the remote control " 7,3,4,4,6,6,0".
Configuration will appear on the bottom left hand side of the TV for three seconds.
Press "PLAY" to close the tray.
The DVD player eill return to normal operation.
This SHOULD make the player Region free.
