Question about HP OfficeJet 6310 All-in-One Printer (Printer/Scanner/Copier/Fax) w/USB Printer Cable , Retail

Open Question

HP Officejet 6310xi won't print

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide! Very frustrated... This printer worked fine till a few days ago when it stopped printing partially through a 1-page color print job. It hasn't printed from my computer since. I've done all I can think of (restart computer, unplug/replug USB cable, restart printer, replaced both cartridges within the past week, clear print cue, delete and re-add it to list of printers, try to print from other apps, etc.) to no avail. FWIW, it does copy fine, and printed that print cartridge alignment sheet no problem. It just won't print from my computer. The status is reflected as "idle". Whenever I add a print job to the cue, it indicates "Connecting to printer..." for about 30 seconds before indicating "Printer Paused." Hitting "Resume Printing" only repeats the aforementioned process (unless I delete the print job from the cue, in which case it returns to "Printer Ready." Is it just ready for me to reenact "Office Space" on it, or is there hope? Thanks again for taking the time to help...Norm

SOURCE: cannot print only one copy; prints the first page only . . . over and over again

Check the menu and got to printing options, it may be that the number of copies got changed, you can set it up to where it can make up to 999 copies!!!!! why that option is on there is a mystery.

If all the the computers connected to this printer via network:

  • Shut them all down except for one.
  • Go to that computer and go to your printer and fax settings
  • Identify the Hp OfficeJet 4515 and right click on the icon and select properties
  • On the General Tab, click on the button that says, "Printing Preferences"
  • Select the "Features" tab and go down to Color Options and check to see that the radial button is green for Print in Color option
  • Underneath that, there is another setting thatsays, "Color Management".
  • Check to see that it is already selected with, "ColorSmart/sRGB or Adobe/rgb
  • Click Ok and return to the Properties
  • Go to Color Management Tab and check to see that it is set to Automatic.
  • Underneath that, you'll see "Color Profiles currently associated with this printer.
  • Look to see that the field is populated, if not click on ADD, and select each color profile that is available
  • Click apply, then OK
  • Shutdown Computer
Turn the printer off, unplug the power from it, wait a couple of minutes, then plug power back to printer, then power it up.

  • Restart the computer you were working with
  • Go to printers and fax options window
  • Select the HP OfficeJet 4515
  • Right click, select properties
  • On General tab, click on, Print Test Page
  • Go to printer to see if printing test page
  • Check to if the Microsoft Windows logo was printed in color
If it is in color, then print the color document you were previously attempting in color.
If it does not print in color, you will have to check your settings on the program that is being used for the document.

My HP Officejet 6500 Wireless printer won't print in black when trying to print from Microsoft Office Word and Microsoft Office Excel or PDF. The ink cartridge is new. I have turned the printer off and...

I also have the OfficeJet 6500 and had the same problem. The black text was printing using a mix of colored inks instead of the black ink, resulting in a grey, fuzzy text. I finally found a solution. In each application under Page Setup, there is an option called "Format for". Mine had been set to "Any Printer". I changed that to "Officejet 6500 E709n [830E4A]" and now it prints the black just fine. I have a Mac running 10.4.11. Hope this helps.

HP 6310 AIO Won't Print HTML Documents

Thought that I'd report that I fixed my printer. I named my printer wrong btw. It is an hp deskjet F340 All in One.
  • Go to the Tools and select Internet Options. Then go to the Programs tab. Select Set Programs then Set Defaults and then Set Program Associations. Select Internet Explorer.
  • Go to the Tools and select Internet Options. Then go to the Advanced tab. Select Restore Advanced Settings. Restart Internet Explorer and try to print again.
It did not work when I removed the windows updates. I also tried this online help and it did not work. HP suggested that I install Firefox. I did not like this option so I'm glad my fix worked for me.

Can I print via my wireless network with HP OfficeJet 6310xi?

Nothing helps. Print servers are capable of connecting a multifunction printer for printing capabilities only. For scanning, you have to connect directly to the Computer or by a Multifunction printer with wireless capabilities.
