Question about Apple AirPort Extreme Router

3 Answers

I have an Airport Extreme Router and struggling to connect a Dell

The Dell is a Latutude (very old), connecting using a D-Link Airplus DWL-650+ Wireless Cardbus Adapter #2.

When I try to connect it asks me for a network key I type the password or key which I used when setting up two other computers and then gives an error message: "The network password needs to be 40 bits depending on your network configuration. This can be 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters".

I know the password is correct cause I set up two other computers using this password for access to network.

Please help.

Bob

There are rollers that cling on to the paper and move it through the machine. When the rollers are worn down they do not grip the paper. For a short fix you can get something rough like sandpaper, brillo pad, etc, and gently scratch the rollers to give them some traction. This will temporarily solve your problem until you can get the rollers replaced.

Just unplug the router and press the reset button and connect it and then again press reset button.
then again set the settings.

Try creating a new password for the router...maybe that will help gain access.

I have a RCA Digital Broadband DHG535-2 modem but my Apple Airport Extreme router does not work, any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Apple uses airport for its wireless connection, how ever the device where you want to connect to should have the wireless feature embeded to it or you should have a wireless router to distribute the wireless signal, if you are using just a modem which doesn't have capability of distributing wireless signals, the Apple airport will surely not work for it requires a modem to connect to. you need to get a router and connect it in your modem so the Apple will work for wireless as well.

D_Rossetto@msn.comWhen I set up airport extreme I dont remember setting up a password when other people visit and try to connect to Airport Extreme it asks for a password how do I find out what that...

If you are sure that you didn't set the password, then the default password must be set with your Airport Extreme System. It depends on the model, some have none, some have; admin, tech, unknown, security, etc.. etc..
You can find all the lists of available passwords for Airport Extreme for deferent models. here: click here to open the direct link

Internet drops over wireless router

Check to see what wireless mode you are using between the router and airport card. They are up to the "N" version now and if your router doesn't support and the airport is set to "auto" it could cause the issue. Try and match the settings with the router and see if that helps with dropping the signal.

Also are you using security with you wireless?
And how strong of a signal is it?
