SOURCE: have no power to my
If you have checked the power cord and found Ok, then check its two ends connected with the device, with a multimeter, ser in KOhms range, and see whether there is any continuity or not. If not either fuse inside it or its mains transformer is damaged. If found no continuity, open your set with care, and check the fuse first. You can locate it very near to the AC inlet of that device. In some JVC sets, a thermal fuse, built inside the mains transofrmer, is there, will gets opened, when the transformer overheats. It will be there between the primary and secondary windings, sandwiched inot the transformer and can be replaced. These are the possible causes that you described here; as no power is entering into the device.
Check these first. If you wants furthermore assistance, feel free to contact me through Fixya.

SOURCE: someone lost the power cord
There's probably nothing special about the original power cord, so I'd go to Radio Shack and get it for $8 http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3875429 Or you may have an unused one from other device lying around the house.
