SOURCE: I have a D52GW12 tv.

Unplug from the wall and hit the power button on the tv. The light may come on dim then fade out or you hear a click. This means it has built in surge protection. Plug it back into the wall and you should be good to go if nothing burnt up.

SOURCE: Tv won't power up after power went out

Most likely your TV's power supply was damaged with the power surge. You will need to take it to a repair place and have the supply checked out and find out the cost versus the value of the TV. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: tv won't turn on due to power surge

It's technically possible, but depends on the damage.

Power surge tv won't turn back on

Check and replace its main power regulator board. Before replacing it, check the fuse, can be located on this board itself.

No power

Chances are that the power from the pole surged or cycled on and off, try unplugging it from the wall outlet for 5 min. Some of the newer TV's have a surge lockout protection feature that won't reset till all power is off for 5 min. But the key is unplugging it from the wall outlet, not unplugging it from the back of the TV. It took me a while to figure it out.

Tv won't turn on like it's unplugged but it's not

I have seen the same problem with my tv's and the like. Depending on the age of the unit, I could sometimes find a blown fuse inside (safety feature). Many electronics especially tv's are extremely fussy about power surges. Even times when I knew there was no power surge, I would find a blown fuse inside the unit, keeping power from ever reaching it's destination. Like you said. tv behaving like its off because no power getting through

AOC Envision L32w761 TV. Lightning strike. Now nothing. Power light won't come on. Checked power to the Power Supply board and have it fine. Replaced TV and everything in the system looks OK. Bad TV...

If you are certain you have a lightning surge, almost anything can take down your TV. First check the obvious, do you have power coming out of the wall. Is the surge protector good, if you used one? If you have answered yes to the these questions, you may have acquired a power surge in your TV. You may not find it in your TV. As I have said it may be anywhere in the TV. You will need to take this TV to an authorized service center. It would be difficult for anyone out side a technician to find the problem. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

I have a 1 1/2 year old Panasonic TC-P42U1 plasma tv. While watching a show, it suddenly shut off and won't come back on. What do you think caused this and how can i fix it? Thanks.

Try unplugging it completely for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Plug it back in. If it still won't come on, it's likely taken a power surge and popped a fuse or power supply, which means a trip to the service center.
