Just unplug the Xbox, The xbox is a computer like yours. Soometimes with poweroutages, or ****.. The USB ports can get messed up. Or you onboard lan get get messed up. Uplug the Xbox power supply, and unhook the USB Net Adapter.

Wait a min or so. Plug back in.. Turn on, plug the USB net adapter back in wolaa.

The USB adapters are very simple really... Very hard to blow them up... no moving parts.

Wireless driver not working

Does it show you the options screen where you can change it? If it shows you WEP or any of the other security options, but not WPA2 then your adapter is not equipped to handle WPA2. Some older adapters were made before WPA2 came about.

If you get to your Wireless Connection under Network settings and Right Click on it and Select Properties.

When the Properties window opens click the Wireless Networks tab and select your network by highlighting it. Once you network ssid is highlighted click Properties. Click the Association tab and look down at the Network Authentication drop down window. You can see all the available types that your adapter can handle such as WPA, WPA-PSK, etc. If WPA2-PSK is not in there, your adapter can't handle it.

Windows XP:

1. Click on the Start Menu, and then click on the Run option.
2. When the DOS window opens, then input control ncpa.cpl into the Run field, then click on the OK button.
3. Either the Network Connections or Network and Dial-up Connections screen will then appear.
4. On this window, please right click on the Local Area Connection that controls the Ethernet Adapter (normally the one without a number if there are multiple Local Area Connections) and click on the Properties option from the menu that comes up after right clicking on the icon.
5. When the Local Area Connection Properties window appears, click on Configure.
6. When the Adapter Properties window appears, click on the Advanced tab.
7. After the Advanced section loads, look under the Properties section for Connection Type, Media Type, Connection Speed, or Link Speed/Duplex Mode.
8. After selecting one of the options above, change the Value from Auto to 10 Base-T, 10 half mode, 10 half duplex, or something similar.
9. After changing the mode, click on the OK button. Please click on also the OK or Close button on the Local Area Connection Properties window. The Network Adapters speed will then be 10 Mbps Half Duplex.

Wireless Connectivity problem

You can check the wireless adapter is working properly in device manager: control panel>hardware and sound, under devices and printers, choose 'device manager'. Expand the network adapters menu and find the wifi adapter. Right click on this and click properties. You can see if the device is working properly under the general tab. You can also try updating the driver; from the drivers tab, choose update driver and then choose to search automatically for updated software.
Also, try clearing browsing history and cookies: Go to start>control panel>network and internet, under the internet options heading, choose 'delete browsing history and cookies' restart the browser.

Go into your system preferences and have your computer scan for new hardware changes.

If you're using XP:

1) Click on Start
2) Go to Settings
3) Open Control Panel
4) Open System
5) Click on the "Hardware" tab
6) Select Device Manager
7) Click on the 'Action' drop down box at the top and select 'Scan for hardware changes.'

This should detect the connection and automatically reconfigure your local area connection.(In some case it may ask you for your ethernet driver CD)

If you're using Vista or win7 you can just simply search for Device Manager and scan for new hardware. Both will have the same result.

All the Best and Good luck.

Nortel NetDirect error on Vista

Hi kt_rutherfor, Firstly apologies for my late reply. I thought that this was going to be a firewall problem, but looking at your error again, I now dont think that. So I'm afraid that I dont know the answer to this, I do have an idea, after researching the problem that this is a Remote-NDIS host problem. Your Uni should be able to help you with this even if it isn't at there end.

Again sorry for not being able to help

Netgear wg111v2 wireless usb adapter wont acquire ip address

Not sure if this is where you are looking, but it probably is. click START then CONNECT TO then SHOW ALL CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTION click STATUS then SUPPORT,,,
or CONTROL PANEL then NETWORK CONNECTIONS then right click LOCAL AREA CONNECTIONS then click STATUS then SUPPORT tab
See what you have there for an IP address
Is it the computer you don't have an IP for or the router? In my case my computer IP the 8th or last digit is the next number after what it is for the router. The other numbers are the same
