Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Door won't open.

My CD player won't open. There is a piece above the CD holder that doesn't lift high enough to allow the track to roll forward. With the lightest lift manually it will open. The spring seems to have plenty of tension to it. It will close with no problems.

Hi Walter, this is called the Chucking arm and is made to hold the disc in place when the Pickup assembly is lifted into place. Often times an analysis will show you that the arm is not being lifted due to a lack of grease (Lubrication in the door mechanism) or that the drive parts- motor and a belt are not transferring the energy well enough. I would start with a belt of the correct size and then it may be fixed.

SOURCE: CD tray won't open or close on onkyo dx-c606 cd changer.

Yes! it sounds very likely that a small loading belt has stretched, or the loading motor is not working, this is not an easy repair because the gears are timed and synced to work together, if the unit has a loading belt pull tray all the way out and look in the empty tray, may be visable! if you can remove it without taking it apart all the better, have a Tv repair shop size up the belt for replacement.

97 Mercury Mountaineer driver side door won't open. Outside handle flops around; inside handle won't open door

Try a slim jim first, down the side of the window. Or AAA or locksmith. If no luck, remove the seat first. Find the screws and bolts around the door handle and arm rest. Most Ford's have screws around the outer side of the panel. I don't believe your's does. The panel lifts or pops off. Once the panel is off, you can reach down and open the door. Just a note. I have done some to where the panel came out in pieces.

Hello

Check all connections, such as from player to amplifier or receiver and receiver to speaker. Check and clean contacts on RCA jacks and cables and try a different input on the amplifier or receiver.

Clean the lens. Use only a special CD lens cleaner and follow the instructions carefully.

Check the traverse assembly (the metal rod that the laser travels along and the gear that drives it) if CDs aren't recognized or won't play, frequent skipping occurs at random, CDs randomly get stuck in one spot, the player can't find tracks correctly, or cleaning the lens doesn't work. Dust and lint may be interrupting its function.

Have the laser-head assembly checked by a repair person if the traverse assembly seems intact and free of debris.Look for broken plastic parts, such as gears and clips, look for loose or broken internal connections.possibly have gears and belts replaced.

If I understand your problem correctly, then I believe all you should have to do is unscrew the yellow roof. It should have screws inside the back two yellow pieces, likely inside the cup holder. Un-screw those and lift up on the roof just enough so that there is enough room for you to re-insert the door into the holes. If your damage isn't too severe, they should still snap right back in. Then just re-screw the roof. Good luck.

If you trust yourself enough to open the case w/o breaking stuff, then open it up UNPLUGGED, locate the laser lens (small, clear, plastic) gently clean the lens with a swab of lens cleaner for glasses.
Also clean the chrome runners that the laser assembly tracks on.
