Question about HP Pavilion Tx1110us Notebook

1 Answer

Motherboard needs replacement

My tx1110us is dead. When you press the power button, the lights go on and the screen flashes for a second and then it goes back off. Power supply and battery are working fine. I test the ram and they are okay. It used to overheat a lot. I think it's from the motherboard or graphic card. Either way the motherboard has to go. Can someone tell me from where to buy a new motherboard and how to install? (I'm not a complete moron when it comes to pcs). Thanks Rob.

It sounds to me like your battery is critically dead and needs recharging very very badly.

Black screen wont start up

Unplug the main battery, and press the power button for 15 seconds. Plug in the battery, plug in the battery charger and press the power button. If your laptop does not start, then there is something wrong with the motherboard (it is dead).

My dell inspiron mini 10 won't boot. There is just a flash of white light then a flash of amber light when I press the power button. That's it, nothing else.

Remove the main battery and try again, also! the power adapter charger should be checked for correct voltage, if okay! pull one stick of ram and test, and the second piece not forgetting to put the first one back and power up, if all this fails you will need to get it assessed.

My 1501 Dell Inspiron turns on but I have a blank black screen. The only light that shows is the power light on the upper right side of the laptop.

Power getting to the laptop. Try first to see if this will give a screen image on an external monitor, listen for the sound of the cpu fan, hard drive and DVD rom drives clicking, see if the DVD rom drive will open if pressed.

Then remove battery and AC adaptor, press the power button for 30 secs, refit mains only and try this on mains supply (no battery)

If this fails to boot, check the light on the ac adaptor is a steady green, flashing green indicates power is not fully reaching the laptop (motherboard problems)

If it is steady and the LED power light on the laptop is steady, suspect the DC jack socket. If this feels loose or sloppy, it will need replacing, depending on the type fitted, it may be soldered onto the board, or a wired connector, which sometimes goes bad.

After that, I'd suggest that a capacitor has gone on the actual motherboard and you will need to strip the laptop to check it.

E system 1212 Laptop won't switch on. Power

Laptops are so integrated that usually a system failure that involves power issues such as in your case where you cant get it turn on with anything on the screen mean the mainboard (motherboard) is damaged. This usually leads to buying a new laptop or paying for the board to be replaced which usually costs as much as the laptop.

Start up screen is balck, held down power button 60 seconds,no help

Is there any fan/cooler sound or some light flashing after you press ON button? If nothing indicates that power comes to the computer - make sure the AC adapter cable is not damaged and battery isn't completely dead. If you don't have an indicator lamp for testing electricity in the AC adapter cable - bring it to the computer repair service.
If not even the manufacturer's/motherboard screen appears, nor BIOS starts to load, and if there is no sound, nor flashing hard disk indicator that the computer load something from the hard disk - then the problem has occured in your motherboard, and you can't fix it yourself. If 3 beeps occur (unless motherboard sounds have been turned off), then your motherboard is most probably dead.
In any case bring it to the repair service, or to the warranty service if the warranty is still working (within the European Union the warranty is minimum 2 years, in USA should be something similar). But if your warranty period isn't over yet I strongly recommend to ask for a new laptop, don't accept the old one to be repaired.
P.S. Don't worry about your data on the hard disk - they are most probably intact. Just remove the hard drive, plug it to another computer and almost all the data without problems. ----------------------------- P.S. If this helped you to solve the problem (or at least brought some clarification) - rate this solution with 4 thumbs up! But before you would give a negative rating - post a comment, so I could improve my solution to satisfy your needs. Thank you!

Bios Faile

bios is always risky update, and toshiba is very well known to stuff up they bios...

first advice, never, ever, update bios from inside of your operating system...

as your computer is already dead, try this method, i cannot recall if you have phoenix or amibios but should work on both:

1. remove power and battery from dead laptop
2. download again bios and unfold it, remember the folder, do not run it!
3. go to this folder and find file with suffix *.rom, rename it to amiboot.rom
4. copy amiboot.rom to usb drive
5. plug usb drive into usb port
6. press and hold fn+b, plug in power cord and press power button
7. if after few seconds you see screen flashing and toshiba logo then returns, you just saved your laptop and few dollars...
8. allow it to boot, switch off, re-insert the battery and use as before.

if this do not work, i am afraid tha tyou need to find some toshiba centre which will flash and re-program bios for your. do not get conned into replacing motherboard! there are non-toshiba repairers which charge between $30 and $100 to flash "dead" bios, toshiba for replacement motherboard want over $300.00

if you find my advice helpful, plese do not hesitate to leave comment and vote 4 fo rme, thanx!

C500 Laptop won't come on power button just flashes

Have you tried attaching an external monitor when the LCD screen is disconnected from the motherboard? this connector is located under the keyboard strip – a piece of plastic just above the keyboard.
If it works, this way, then the video cable isn’t seated properly in the connector on the back of the screen. Plugging the video cable back in should fix the problem.
I don’t know how comfortable you are with taking apart laptops but I think that this information could be useful for you.

Check the luminance Tube If it is ok then check the power up circuit of tube, check flexible cable connected from motherboard to the power up circuit, check for dry solder in the circuit. But be careful, don't touch or handle the power up circut of tube while the laptop power is turn on because of step up high voltage generated in that circuit.
