There is a retaining clip part number 9703680 illus no 25 on pg 5 of this part diagram http://www.goodmans.net/images/dmg/ka_diagrams/KP26M1X.pdf that part slip down the shaft on my mixer. I use a pair retain clip pliers to put back in place in the grove on the shaft and was back in business. if the clip is not on the shaft then you need to get a new one.

This is not a solution but I think you have a serious problem you might have sheared some gear teeth whent the mixer jammed and it only manifests itself under a heavy load, I would take it to a repair guy, those mixers are expensive and it would be worth it.

when you lower the bowl, there is a screw just above the mounting plate. Adjust this very very slightly. Lift bowl with beater attached with out turning on the machine to test first, after you have adjusted.

I think you have a K45SS. It sounds like there is a problem with one of the gears, probably the worm gear. The worm gear is designed to be the first to fail if the mixer has struggled with a heavy dough or other difficult to mix substance. The best way to establish the cause will be to open the head up and check the gears for signs of damage.

You can't fix that: the parts have been produced this way - the manufacturing has been of a low quality, with excessive tolerances. If it's very annoying you could add yourself a plastic shim - of your creation - on the inside of the slider, but this is just a kludge for which you will have to completely dismantle it.
