SOURCE: cobra 18 wx st for mobile use, ned to switch reg

You probably don't want to hear this, but the cobra 18 wx st is just about the worst, and most hated radio ever made. Its a very poor radio.

to be very honest with you, you should get rid of that radio, or return it. Then buy a cobra 29 instead,

for proper mic wiring, please reference this page.

Heil icm plug wiring diagram

The Heil "ICM" microphone is designed to be used with certain Icom brand ham radios. These have a 8-pin round plug. Describing the pinout to you will depend upon your perspective, whether you are looking at it from the microphone plug itself, or the microphone socket on the front of the radio. Therefore, from the perspective of looking at the mic plug on the end of the mic cable, note that there is a notch or dimple in the plug that also lines up with the screw. Going clockwise from the notch, the pins are numbered 1 thru 7. Pin #8 is the center pin.
Pin 1 = mic input
Pin 5 = Push-to-talk (PTT)
Pin 6 = PTT ground
Pin 7= Mic ground

From the standpoint of an Icom transceiver, the remainder of the mic connector pins are as follows:
pin 2 = +8 volts DC (output from the radio)
pin 3 = frequency control up/down
pin 4 = squelch switch
pin 8 = audio output (level varies w/vol control)
Hope this helps

Can a speaker be internally installed

Shut the computer down completely if you are installing a PC speaker in a computer that you have already built.

Disconnect the power cable, and bring the PC case to a sturdy table or workbench.

Open the PC case.

A PC case sometimes has a release lever that you can use to slide the cover off without tools.

If your case has no release lever, look for a series of Phillips-head screws on the back and remove them before sliding the cover off of the case.

After removing the cover, place the case on its side so you can access the motherboard.

Locate the connector for the PC speaker near the front of the case.

Generally, the connector has two wires black and red and a black connector with four holes on the end.

Examine the black connector, and note the hole a dot or arrow next to it.

This end of the connector should align with pin 1 on the motherboard.

Look for a bank of pins on the motherboard, near the front of the PC case.

Near the bank of pins, there should be a guide explaining the purpose of each section of pins. Examine the guide to find the four pins labeled "SPK," "SPEAKER" or similar.

Place the connector over the four corresponding pins so that the side of the connector marked with an arrow or dot goes over the pin marked "1."

Hope this helps

I'm trying to wire a galaxy desk mic to a cobra 200 10 meter mobile

  • The Galaxy desk mic (power mic) is already wired four pin and the Cobra 200 is a 4 pin already as well. So unless someone has messed with them the mic will plug right up to the radio as is.

  • But if someone has repined the mic then follow the pinout I listed below to get it rewired for the Cobra 200
  1. Pin #1 on mic connector - Black wire.
  2. Pin #2 on mic connector - White wire.
  3. Pin #3 on the mic connector - Blue wire.
  4. Pin #4 on the mic connector - Red wire.

  • If you look on the end of the mic connector it will have the imprint of the number for each pin on the mic.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Front panel connectors/jacks is not working

OK--usually what you will find from the front is 3 connectors.
One will be a solid block that has one blank hole which is the key. That will plug into the corresponding pins on the motherboard--usually toward the back of the case.
There will be another other wire that terminates in two plastic connectors. These are the USB connectors. Sometimes the connectors are in two parts. One is a 3-hole and one is a 1-hole. Usually you will find two sets as they sort of go together.
The pin configuration on the motherboard looks like this ::::.
The single pin on the end is not used. The other ones are connected with the plastic connector on the first three starting at the left, with the end marked VCC to the left. The fourth pin is the ground which is usually the separate connector.
The second USB connectors are plugged in right next to the first--so each block of pins controls 2 USB ports.
Hope this helps.

2 line phone rca 25205re1 only 1 line works not the rollover line

Most likely the problem is the cord from the wall to the phone. There are two types of cords and they look almost identical. Look closely at the connector. A single-line cord will have only two gold pin at each end. A two-line cord will have four gold pins at each end.

You need a two-line cord to get both lines from the wall to your phone. Since you have had the problem with several phones, that is the most likely cause.

Don't know the conections of blue or red

If we're talking about the microphone cable wiring on a low impedance mic remember this. Cheap mic cables with XLR's on both ends often have no standard color code to follow. True pin 1 is ALWAYS ground (shield wire) but the other two wires could be any color of the rainbow. Look for small numbers beside each pin of the XLR connector and make sure that pin two on one end of your cable, is also pin two on the other end as well....etc. Special note: The XLR connectors set screws have reversed threads and it's the same for the XLR male plug in the bottom of the microphone as well.....Glen

Microphone

Hi,

If the radio receives OK and the TX red LED will not lit up when keying the mic, then it is a mic or mic cord or mic connector problem (or pin configuration). Internally to the mic, there is a switch for keying the PTT. This should be check down to the coiled cord to the connector.

If all of the above checks OK, then you would need to check the TX/RX regulator/switching circuitry.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Cobra 148 gtl

First off check to see if your mic gain is turned all the way down. Second; if you have a power mic is the battery dead ir the volume of the mic turned down. If these check ok, look for a loose or broken audio wire in your microphone, and the connector (both ends can break). I have seen the wires break as far back as 4 inches from the mic head and the connector depending on how the user held the microphone, or pulled against the wire. if the problem is not found to be any of the above I suggest you take the radio to a qualified technician for repair.
