SOURCE: Hi, I have a Loewe

First of all open the player and get access to the mechanism. Now manually turn the loading motor to release the cd and eject. Now use a multimeter to check the voltage on the loading motor drive IC.If the IC receives input signal when the eject button is pressed, then the motor must receive voltage. If not IC is faulty,if yes motor is faulty. If no control to IC processor board is faulty.

Screeching noise coming from the drive belt is this common

When your drive belt becomes old and stretches so it is no longer tight enough the belt will make a loud squealing noise and will need to be replaced. While the drive belt is off during replacement, you or the mechanic replacing the belt will need to turn each pulley in the system that can be turned by hand to see if any of those are making a metallic noise also. If they make a metallic noise, they are worn out. It is common for a drive belt to wear out and cause this noise.

DVD player will not open

1. This problem is with the drive mechanization. If belt driven the small belt that pulls the gear has become stretched and need replacment.
2. If this is direct drive then the gear has lost sync or is worn and need service.
3. To remove disc you can unscrew the 4 to 6 screws to open the cabinet ( this will void any warranties) but you can rotate the gear in clockwise movement to retrieve the disk.
4.If there is a belt there you can carefully remove the belt and apply a coating of "Rejuvenate" to it and it will last for about 3 months. before the belt will not be useful. Note: that the application is careful applied and allowed to dry thoroughly before installing the belt again.
5. Most DVD players are disposable lasting only for 10000 to 50000 plays.

I am looking to buy a Loewe XEMIX 5106 DO uers manual

Thank you but all I wanted was a copy of the operating manual - no big deal requiring what you describe as premium services that I of course will have to pay for.

Please forget my request as I think FIXYA is more concerned with profits than simple help.

New remote control unit.

You should try replacing the remote by buying a Logitech Harmony remote which you can then program to work your Xemix. It works really well for me. Alternatively if you can't get a dvd remote, try to get a TV control for a Loewe Xelos TV which has a DVD mode just for the Xemix dvd player.

Aiwa cassette deck won't eject

I had this problem on an AD-S40. Turned out to be the drive belts, which had stretched, resulting in the fact that the motors couldn't drive the mechanism through it's various load cycles of opening/closing the captain roller, etc. as required to operate the mechanism. Stuck in mid-cycle, the doors would not open.

After removing the case cover, you can turn the belt driven wheels by hand to complete the cycle, so that you can eject. Then get new belts (several outfits sell belts based on length, on line). You don't need to do much to replace the belts -- after unlocking and getting the tape out, it was only a couple of screws to remove the mechanism, as a unit, and there is no need to fuse with the circuit boards and such. Easier than I expected.
