Question about GE Profile PGS968SEPSS 30" Slide-In Gas Ranwith 4 Sealed Burners, 4.1 cu. ft. Two Speed Convection Oven, Self Clean, PowerBoil Burner, 3 Heavy Duty Oven Racks, StoraDrawer and ADA Compliant: Stainless Steel
The exact model number is GE Profile PGS968SEM3SS 30" Slide-In Gas Range stopped working today. The touch pad seems to be working. The stove top range burners are all working. Even the broiler still seems to work. From my online research, it sounds like other people have had the same experience with other similar GE Profile Ranges. Some have mentioned switching the igniter may fix it. Does that sound right? Is that easy to do? How exactly?

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the correct procedure for performing this test. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

SOURCE: Our GE profile oven model
pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven, turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by amps.it takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.
