Compaq EVO D500 Keyboard/Mouse Issues

I have four Compaq EVO D510 computers that all have the same problem. They are used computers that were pulled out of an existing site. I have a USB mouse & keyboard connected to the computer (no ps/2 inputs). These work at the boot screen but stop working after windows loads. Have have tried numerous keyboards and mice and different combinations of usb ports with no luck. I have also tried enabling and disabling the network server mode.

No error codes. It seems like windows is up an running at 100% but it just doesn't see the keyboard/mouse.

The usb controllers/drivers would be the first thing that I would check but since I am unable to get a single keyboard or mouse to work I am unable to get into the device manager.

Also, they do not work in safe mode.

Do you get an error code or does your computer just lockup?

Just read this carefully as you will get a problem to your solution.

My Computer ->right click ->properties ->hardware -> device manager -> in last you will find USB controllers -> unistall all the usb controllers one by one. Restart the machine and your USB devices will be working fine

Enjoy

Compaq Evo D510 tower: game compatibility issues

Upgrading the windows version and adding ram and better video card may be a good solution. It couldn' hurt at least.
Try it and see if you can play you games.
Games are the most resourse hungry application that you can put your computer through. The ram size and video card memory size are critical for acceptable preformance.
Thank you and good luck,
James.

I just bought a wireless card for my evo d500. when i instaled it, it had a few teeth in the slot left over (the new card did not fill all of them) when i turn on the comp., the keyboard is locked up, no...

You dont have the correct card in your computer. You may have a PCI card and a PCI II slot or the otherway around. There should be no extra teeth nor extra holes.

Remove the card and get the proper one.

I've got extra memory for my Compaq Evo desktop computer but I can't get the top off to put the memory in.

Try looking in this technical reference manual

Hope that helps, It is for a model Evo D510 e-pc, but that should be close to what you need. It does tell you how to get the cover off.

Hi sdd555,

Restart the computer after plugging the USB keyboard into a different USB port, or remove the keyboard in Device Manager and then refresh the system to work around the issue. This will cause the device to be re-enumerated and the driver will be reloaded.

Good Luck,

Mark
