Question about Gateway 310S (2900621) PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have a Solo 1450 laptop. About a month ago, I put a music CD in and listened to it, then removed the CD. Now every time the computer is on, the CD player is making noise like it's trying to play the CD---but there's nothing in the CD drive and no music programs open on the computer. It sounds like the end of a record playing on a phonograph, you know? Click-click, fuzz, click-click, fuzzz. How do I get this to stop. It's driving me crazy.

Have you tried putting the CD back in once and letting it go? You'd be surprised what that may do.

Try to uninstall the device in the device manager then restart and re install (if windows doesn't do it automatically)

Gateway Solo 1450 will power up but the screem/monitor is blank. You can hear it loading up, Could someone tell me if its my motherboard? Thanks

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

CD drive trying to play CD when drive is empty

Apparently your laptop still thinks there is a cd to play. Be sure you closed down all your programs. I am assuming that you already logged off and shut your computer down and restarted. It could be something as simple as your sensor that detects the cd being in place and just a little dust. Use some clean compressed air that comes in a can and can be bought like at Radio Shack or electronic supply house. Put the nozzle on and blow out any dust that may be in there. Power down and then restart your computer. That should take care of your problem.

USED TO BE ABLE TO GET SIRIUS RADIO ON MY LAPTOP COMPUTER AT WORK...TWO MONTHS AGO ACCESS STOPPPED, ALTHOUGH MY ACCOUNT WITH SIRIUS IS IN GOOD STANDING AND WORKS FINE IN MY CAR.....HAS MY COMPANY PUT UP A...

Sounds like your company has set up a router control access rule for the IP address of the Sirius Radio Server connection. Unfortunately, there is no way around this blocking. Your company has done this to control the network traffic and to block unnecessary intranet/Internet incoming and outgoing traffic. You do not realize how much bandwidth listening to streaming music or watching streaming video consumes from usable network bandwidth. If your company pays a flat fee for Internet access each month with no traffic limit, they are just being protective of the network and potential bottlenecking of datagram packets. If your company has a limit of say 4TB of transmission packets per month and anything over this amount begins costing them oodles of money, the IT department is just trying to keep costs down. If the laptop you are using belongs to your company and is NOT your personal laptop, then more than likely the IT department HAS installed new firewall rules that are in place to protect the integrity and security of the system data. I know that you want to listen to your own music selections while at work, but network and data security trumps your ability to listen to what you want to. My suggestion, bring in some **** CD's with your favorite music and use your own CD player at your desk, then no one can restrict your music listening. If the laptop is owned by YOU, and you are using it for business use with consent of the organization, you are STILL restricted to NAC settings governed by your corporate IT/Security group. I know this is not what you really wanted to hear, but it is what it is. Cheers, Keith
