Panasonic KX T1451 cassette tape ans machine went dead on me. Fix?

My old Panasonic KX T1451 suddendly went dead on me 3 months ago.Perhaps it's just a fuse that blew out. Mechanics are working OK. Have correct adaptor, Panasonic KX-A11. But tele call comes, tele rings, but after 3 rings, the KX1451 does not start to record the incoming message. Any ideas on how to fix and cost?

Stop Paying .. ????

if the take up side gets stuck it could feed excess tape and stop the mechanism. Look to see if both reels are turning when you push play. Remove cassette door for a better view if possible.

Make sure your tapes have NO slack in them. Fast forward and rewind one cassette all the way, then try again looking to see if both sides are turning. If not, you may have a belt that is old, stretched and slipping or it's split apart or just fallen off

This sounds like you are using a tape based system, so you will not have much luck finding what you need. Everything went digital, many years ago, and they work much better. Consider an upgrade rather than a repair. Tapes deteriorate and quality degrades, over time.

My Panasonic AJD230 is spitting out some but not all, tapes

The capacitors are old and need replacing. And what I mean by caps is ALL the caps. These decks are known for failing capacitors - even if the deck hasn't logged much play/record time - time is not kind to them. Panasonic have ready made capacitor sets for the decks and even though you might be able to fix your transport problems by replacing only a portion of them, it's advised they all get done at once. That's between 10-20 hours for an experienced tech and it will cost you. What can you do?

Panasonic Auto-Logic 2line syst dual standard cassette needs help

If the unit answers reliably but isn't recording, it probably just needs new cassettes, new drive belts and a good head cleaning. If you can find a service shop that works on cassette decks, they could probably look at the machine for you. These are the same things you need to do to a stereo deck occasionally.

On the other hand, if the machine is not picking up at all sometimes, there may be electronic problems and you might have to check Panasonic's website for service options. Parts availability for something this old could be an issue.

Re: Model PV-4523S

You can try cleaning it with a VCR tape cleaner to see if the pinch roller have build up on there. It could be that the motor isnt feeding the tape up against the recording heads properly and may need an adjustment. If you can take the top cover off, you should be to see what the problem is by the way the tape is being inserted into the machine.

Cassette Tape Deck Problem

Unit may have worn belts that are slipping. All cassette player belts are subject to deterioration even if recently installed. You may try ordering the belts yourself and have a service tech install them. The tech that installed belts 9 months ago may have used used belts. Although dishonest, it is common.
