Akai PT5250A - I cannot converge correctly.

I saw that you posted a comment and seems like you know what your talking about. I have an Akai PT5250A I have replaced both convergence IC's but now I am having heck of a time manually converging it. When I press the Auto Focus button it says "Check Factory Data". Is there a Factory reset, or maybe some better tips on getting it done right. Thanks, any info is greatly appreciated.

This fixed this problem
Plugs on the chassis coming from keyboard and side video input are switched (they have same plug)
redoo convergence save and auto focus in factory mode after switching plugs

No power for AKAI PT5250A

This is a main power regulator board fault. Check it. If you are not handy with high-voltage circuit board repair, ever attempt to continue, because, some capacitors at the power supply regulator board are dangerous to touch, even after you have unplugged the TV from AC mains supply line. They will have storage charge, that you could suffer by severe electric shock.

Somebody gave me a akai pt 5250ax tv and said it needed a new board,do you know where i can get this part?

First you have to know exactly what board have to be replaced. Akai was using Samsung electronics inside of their TV sets for some years. You have to find Samsung part number on the board. Should start with two letters like "BN" or "BP".
After that you can research (log in as a guest) or E-Bay for this perticular part number.
Good luck!

Sony kf-60dx100 convergence

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

Need akai pt4799hd setup code

Do NOT attempt to enter the service mode to align convergence if you cannot align the convergence with the user's menu. If the convergence cannot be corrected with the user's menu, it means that one of your convergence IC's has burned out and possibly burned out the fuse next to it. If you change any settings without first replacing the bad parts, you will only make things much worse. I believe that set is actually a Samsung, and has the 2 convergence IC's on their own board mounted above the small signal board. If you do not know how to identify and replace shorted convergence IC's, allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.

Seems like you need to replace its convergence amplifier ICs (2 pcs). The convergence amplifiers are attached vertically to two heatsinks. When replacing these, remember to reapply thermal paste (white paste for better heat transfer from IC to heatsink). If you don't replace these, over time other components will be affected.
