Question about Routers

1 Answer

I have a Netgear WNR834B wireless router. I had it configured on my pc and then my pc died. I am now using a laptop and I'm unable to tunnel into my office. My boss tells me it's the settings on the router. How can I access the router to change it's settings?

Hello,

Make sure you have a wired (ethernet) connection to your router if you plan to change settings.

You can then log in to the router’s settings by typing
http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar of a web browser (or you could try www.routerlogin.net ) .

At the prompt, enter your username and password. If you haven’t changed the defaults, enter username: admin and password: password.

You should now see a screen where you can access your settings. Hope this helps you...

Netgear wireless router WNR834B has died ... no power ... no connection. :-(

You need to return it if it is under warranty. If not you need to buy a new router. I suggest getting a Belkin.

How to reset Netgear RangeMax NExT Wireless Router WNR834B

Do a hard reset (20sec hold reset button, unplug for 20 sec still pressing the reset button and another 20 sec to turn on the power while holding the reset button). That should reset to defaults.

Trying to switch routers, can't get into new Netgear to configure

To configure it you can simply contect a pc to one of its rj45 port. it will give the pc an ip address in a default range. but the must have its network connection configured to receive ip automatically.

See the status of the pc LAN connection and note the gateway ip address. then type this ip in your explore address bar to access the configuration page / program of the router.

Hope that help.
