Magma Newport Only Burns on One Side

Just bought the Newport and this past weekend was the first time we used it on board. Grill lit write away, however, it only really got hot on one side, the side closest to the propane bottle. And that side seemed extremely hot even on the low setting. What am I doing wrong?

I have the same problem.
