In some cases I have had to cut the handles off. But before we go that far, check for any allen type screws int the handle, If the is a screw through the top you can drill it out, since you are replacing the valve anyway.

Easy one.
Feel the pipes. The pipe on the right should be cold. If the pipes are correct, turn the cartridge 180 degrees.

Remove handle to gain acess to the temperature limit stop. Remove handle and pull out handle adapter kit and next there is a dail that can be adjusted to control the water to balance the temp. It could have been installed wrong, pay attention to where it is now and pull it back to it disengages out of the stem and move it counter clockwise a little and reinstall. Put handle on and test water for correct movement.

Water temp. regulate

Moen faucets have only one moving part. The stem slides up and down to open and close the faucet and rotates to regulate the flow of hot and cold water. Any leaking requires replacement of the cartridge.
First, turn off the water. To remove the cartridge, you'll need to remove the handle. This project can be like working a puzzle. If you have the manufacturer's instruction sheet for the faucet, you're ahead of the game. Without it, look for a retainer clip at the rear of the faucet just below the handle. Or, you may have to remove a set screw or snap-in "hot-cold" button and a handle pin or screw. On some faucets the swing spout must come off first. The retainer clip may be hiding beneath the handle inside a lift-out tube. Some cartridge faucets use two retainer clips–one by the handle and another by the cartridge. Retainer clips can be pried out with a screwdriver.
Once the retainer clip is removed, the cartridge simply pulls out. Use pliers, as shown in Fig. 6. Install the new cartridge by pushing it into place with the flat arrow, or other mark upward. If you use a lubricant on the cartridge, make sure it's silicone grease.
Check and clean the cartridge inlet ports. Before you button up the faucet turn the water back on for a minute to flush out the supplies. I had to look for this answer, hopefully this will work for you.

I have a moen 1 knob push-pull faucet for my tub/shower. When I push it in sometimes water continues to drip. It is probably 30 years old. Are their replacement parts for it?

The old MOEN single handle faucets like youve described usualy took a 1200 or 1225 cartridge. Both are available at most of your big home improvement stores. The answer to your question is yes MOEN parts are still avail. Hope this helps. If this advise is helpful, please give me a vote.

No cold water from Moen 2253 tub/shower valve, when i turn handle to cold I get hot water, when handle is turn to hot i get hot water

Here is a quick check to see if the cartridge may be at fault allowing the cold and hot to mix. Turn off the hot water supply, with hot water supply off turn faucet on. Turn to the hot and cold sides, If you have only cold water then your faucet cartridge is at fault or the cartridge housing is worn. Shut all supply valves and remove cartridge and inspect housing for signs of wear. If wear is visible a new shower valve is needes. If none visible replace cartridge. I have included a link of a PDF file an exploded parts list. I hope this helps in solving your problem. Please rate if the answer helps in any way. Good Luck and have a great week. Jeff

Single or dual lever? A new ball if single lever. Home Depot or Menards will carry them. Teflon tape if dual cartridge. Stay away from moving parts

Moen shower/tub faucet

hi... yes that's a very common issue with moen "cartridges" -- it's very simple to fix..... grasp the handle and give it a gentle tug upwards when the water is on... if it retracts again, pull the handle out again and tug again but this time a bit harder. Not sure what causes this on new cartridges but it will fix your issue.
