Are you using a sound card you installed? What is the model of your Dell if you're not?

TASCAM US-122 Will Not work with XP PRO "Can't find Us-122 Driver

The drivers for XP Home should work with XP Pro, but there is a 64 bit version of XP Pro, and I believe that may be your problem. You can try downloading a new version of the driver at:

http://www.tascam.com/products/us-122;9,15,68,19.html

to see if that fixes your problem. It's under Software and Firmware, Vista and XP driver 3.40. that device is considered a "legacy" device by the manufacture, so any more driver updates are unlikely.

Computer had virus, reinstalled, and now drivers dont work

Sounds like you need to re-load the device drivers for the display and modem. Dell maintains a very good library in their download secton for all the models that they made. Then use device manager to re-load the driver..

you might want to downgrade to xp because vista uses alot of ram to run it. you could also get more ram. you need about 1gb and a half to 2 gigs to run most recording softwares and interfaces. i personally use vista cause i lost my xp disk and i got 2 gbs of ram and everything runs great, but if you really want to get into recording do what im doing and save up and buy a mac.
