SOURCE: Canon PIXM iP1600 ink replacement

Each time the cartridge is removed from the printer an "empty cartridge" message appears and a blinking amber light will come on, on the printer. Holding the paper feed button down for 3-5 sec. will allow you to override the counter.

On Vista machine, Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer.

Choose Add a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.

A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name

SOURCE: Canon Pixma ip5200 under Windows 7 - not responding

Did you download the latest drivers from the website? It looks like they were posted this month. I would report the issue. It is quite likely there is a compatibility issue. Have you contacted canon at all about this problem? Once I have more information I can try and assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

Where can i find installer for pixma ip1600

You can download it free from Canon's support website for free.

Click here to go to the website. Click on Drivers and Software, select your Windows version from the dropdown menu and you will be presented with a list of available drivers and programs. If you need to extract rar files use 7zip.

Note: Windows 7 has a large number of latest drivers, if you cannot find the correct driver, there is a chance Win7 will install it automatically. If a driver is available, download and install it instead.

this is due to the color management for winXP and win7 are different.. you can try to download the printer driver add on for win 7.. else you will have to install manually the color management.
the add on can be downloaded below..

Can't install Canon pixma IP1600 driver on Vista

Try downloading the driver module from this site:

http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010230.asp

Click on the link and choose your operating system as Vista and a language. Download the "Canon Inkjet Printer Driver Add-On Module". It supports 32bit and 64bit systems.

This should fix your problem.

Hope this helps,

Do not work with windows vista

Yes, it is because the INF file was written for windows 95 or later. That "or later" driver was probably released before Vista. You can get a Vista driver here: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&modelid=13368
