Question about Saeco Vienna SuperAutomatica Coffee Maker/Espresso Machine
We own the Saeco Incanto (SUP021Y) Recently it has begun to leak. It leaks clear water onto the counter after the brew cycle is complete, seems to be coming from behind/ inside the steamer/ frother mechanism. It also doesn't fill cup as before (1/2 of brewed coffee seems to dump into the drip tray.) And the used up grind that goes into the collection compartment comes out very moist, it used to come out alot more packed and drier previously. I am in some serious need of help in repairing this machine. The coffee we use is a Portuguese Bean called Sical. We bought it in Portugal just under 2 years ago. We live in South Jersey. I must also admit that it wasn't turned off on a regular basis. Your advice, help, part recommendations, and where to purhase or reputable local repair person would be greatly appreciated.
This may just be a cleaning issue. I have had this alot. If you open the machine and take the contraption out of the inside (the hopper thing). You should clean this of course but the problem is behind that on the back wall of the machine. There is a diagonal slot. at the bottom of the slot is a drainage port that is supposed to take the water and send it to the tray. but you will probably find that this is all clogged up with coffee. You need to clean the coffee out, I recommend pipe cleaners and Qtips and patience to get it out. You will know it is clean when you can squirt water into the bottom of the diagonal slot and it will flow out of a little port just below it (where it goes to the tray).
How to keep this from happening again. Most likely given the description of the beans (too wet), your grinder is set too fine. You can adjust the grinder when it is running and you should adust it to a higher number. Its recommended to be on 8 and you may need to go to 10 or 11, ( you have to experiment with it). I only recently realized that my own grinder was set at too low of a number and it was causing a recurrence of this leakage issue.

Some incanto's had an issue with the steam valve assembly, because they were plastic and some were defective. Here is the new improved steam valve kit: http://cerinicoffee.com/Saeco_steam_valve_replacement_kit.asp
