W7 First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. for xp or earlier click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X you will need to update/reinstall drivers right click to reinstall drivers if you can see your usb drive but its not working ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem Check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts if you need more help with this or if i have missed the problem post a reply Hope it helps.

Every time i plug in my sony camera to the usb port to upload my pictures, my camera will say " usb mode. connecting to mass storage" then that will go away after a few seconds and then it...

Hi,

The "USB mode" and "Connecting to Mass Storage" message will get displayed when the Camera is connected to the Computer and is recognized by the Computer as a Mass Storage device. This is not an error message and is a normal operation.
You can change the Mass Storage settings in the Camera (depends on the model) The USB Select or USB Connect option in the Camera can be changed to PTP, Mass Storage or PictBridge mode. Set the option in the Camera to PTP and connect it to the Computer and check if the Computer is recognizing the connection. Once the computer is recognized, it appear as a removable Drive.
You can transfer the images from the Camera to the Computer from the Removable Drive by copying and pasting.

Thanks for contacting FixYa.

Xbox 360 system will not reade any kind of storage format, like hard drive or flash drive in the usb slot.

If you have the Spring 2010 console update installed on your 360 console, you have to configure the USB device it before it is recognized by your Xbox 360 console. Connect your device, go to My Xbox menu, go to System Settings, then choose Memory. From here, select "USB Storage Device", and choose "Configure Now".
Your device will need at least 1GB free storage, and your console can use 16GB maximum of all attached USB storage devices total. Move the slider to configure the space to use & press the A button to set. Your USB device should be listed as a storage memory unit now!

It means that the phone should be recognize as mass storage device, if it doesn't recognize it, you can try by restarting the PC with the phone connects to the computer, when the computer boots, it should be recognize as Mass Storage Device. You need no driver.

Computer not recognizing SD card as external storage/Creative Zen

Try going to the memory card option on the main menu, then go to 'Removable Storage', then the Zen should either tell you to connect a USB cord or insert a memory card. Try it, if not I dont know.

"little tikes- my real camera" can't upload pics

The USB connection seams to be very sensitive try pushing the USB cable into the camera firmly and wiggling it. Once the mass storage device is recognized be careful not to move the plug. The connection can be very flaky.

Good luck,

Mike
