Question about Dryers

Open Question

Frigidaire dryer (model/serial FERB6600eso/al #XD61204062) spins, but doesn't heat and has noise.

The noise is due to a metal spring that moves when dryer spins. How much will cost to repair it?

Ive seen this before. There was actually a coin that had fallen out of the drum and got stuck on one of the contacts, causing it too short. Open the dryer panel, unplug it first, and look for any signs of a coin or somthing shorting a circuit. Thats step one. Hope this helps. Dave www.washermd.com

Could be the drum bearings are worn. These are what the dryer drum turns on and when they wear out the drum and frame rub together (metal to metal). Also could be the belt idler which keps the belt tight around the drum. In either case the dryer would have to be internally accessed to determine failure.

Hello tancrbtt - It sounds like your unit may have one or more problems. Either the belt slipped off the idle pulley and/or dryer belt and needs replacing, a faulty motor or a common failure between control and motor. Consult a professional to accurately diagnosis the dryer and to assist with the repairs.

Dryer has power but doesn't spin or heat up

Check to see if the door switch "clicks" when you push and release it. If the switch is bad, the dryer won't run. Here is the part in case you need it.

Hello - Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, either the drainage hose/pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned, or you have another issue with the door lock assembly or the timer and control board not communicating correctly. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

Most of your fuses for a Frigidaire dryer are upper right hand side of the rear bulkhead. Here is a westinghouse dryer video I made In the video I look for failed components and show the various parts, explain their function, and location.

When the dryer gets hot, the tumbler begins to make a continous squeaking noise as if there is metal to metal; not a grinding noise. If you allow it to cool down and restart, it doesn't start until it...

Well ya never mention in your question what brand you have but a GE or Hotpoint dryer has a small plastic insert that wears thin over time. It begins to do a squeak squeak squeak type of noise. And that noise is intermittent, on a Frigidaire model the noise would start out low and gradually get worse. The bearing sometimes gets so bad it gets chopped off and the tub falls into the heating element.

I have an frigidaire electric dryer model number FERB6600ESO will not get hot. What could be the problem?

First check to see that your getting 220 Volts to the dryer.
Then locate your heating coil on the back of the dryer under the metal plates.
You should see a fan/blower housing that goes to the inside of the dryer drum that is where you will locate the heating coil, also some times the thermostats/thermistors are located either inside or outside of the same fan/blower housing. Check them to make sure they are not faulty.
Good Luck
