Air, air, air! If the pellets don't get the forced air from the fan they burn slowly. Also if the air vent is blocked or partially blocked you will have the same symptoms!

No flame. The auger works fine and the pellets are feeding in. There is no fire to burn them.

Do you have a user's manual? Most pellet stoves need to be lit before starting the auger to sustain the fire.

We have a heilsa pellet stove model#QCPS-28000 ,its dropping pellets to fast ,how do I adjust the feed.

It is not possible for the manufacture to factory set your stove to work properly without some adjustments. The dampers help control the amount of airflow supplied for combustion.
A damper PUSHED IN all the way, maximizes concentrated air flow to the burn pot. This will maintain a robust fire.
The Auger timing is designed to be run, in most conditions, with the dampers closed.
In some areas/conditions, it mybe necessary to adjust the damper open slighty in order to slow down the flame and allow the pellets to keep pace with the rate of burn. This should be monitored closely to ensure you have the propoer feed rate established. If dampers are opened too much, the rate of burn will be very slow and the pellets will build up.
This setting needs to be fine tuned to according to your location and elevation. It is recommended that you start with the dampers pushed in to start.

I purchases an elcipse pellet stove in 1990. It still works perfectly. I need to replace the insulation blocks for the side walls and also need a new ash pan. Do you know where i can purchase these items.

Elcipse was manufactured by Warnock Hersey, but was sold to St Croix. So, their parts may be interchangeable with your stove. Try Pellet Stove and click on other brands for St Croix.

Ash build up in burn pot

You are burning wood pellets. When you burn wood you produce ash. Some of the ash is extremely hard and hard to remove. What I do is remove the burn pot, take it into my shop and with a screwdriver and hammer, LIGHTLY tap on the hardened ash until the pot is clean. Should only take a few minutes. At the same time you can clean the glass. Even though it may burn very clean, nothing burns wood fuel without by-products...Good luck...Lee

I have a pellet stove and the glass soots up very fast is there a way to prevent the soot build-up

Most of the pellet stoves I have seen have a part that pushes air up in front of the glass. See if you have a part that you are not sure of where it goes. If you do, try it in a way to push air in front of glass. You may have to contact the company that produced it and get one from them. Another thought, there may be holes in the floor of the stove that have been plugged by ash or something. If there are, clean them out. Good luck...Lee

My Quadra fire 1000 Pellet stove is not igniting correctly, the fire box fills with lots of smoke, the when it finally does the flame is erratic, extremely high and is giving off alot of black, and does...

Hi lovinthepine:
1st. clean the unit, inside and out! Clean fire bowl/pot, it'll have small'ish holes for air and a larger one for the igniter. Clean out all holes in fire pot! Make sure fiberglass gasket material between firepot and firebox floor is in tacked and not leaking. make sure ash pan door is closed tight. Clean finned heat-ex's, this requires pulling out the two heat exchanger cover plates inside the firebox., next pull the right side panel and remove neg pressure blower & clean. These can get cloged up with ash and half burnt pellets. Tall flames & black smoke mean the unit is out of adjustment. Try closing up the pellet feed plate some, it's located in the pellet hopper area. Adjust opening smaller and wait 15 min, takes that long for change. If that doesn't get it, try opening the positive pressure blower's restrictor plate some. Remove left cover panel & find semi funneled blower cover plate, loosen screw and slide plate sideways +/- 0.25". If that doesn't do it, make sure all blowers are coming on, check for exhaust blockage in stove output/Flue sys. I hope that help ya, good luck!

After installing the pellet stove, the stove seems to 'burn up" the pellets to fast not creating a "coal bed ',no real heat is going in the house. It is a breckwell big E mod. 55'000 btu...

Not sure what is happening but if the pellets are burning too fast that tells me you have to set the air flow while they are burning. Even a wood stove will burn to fast if there is too much air . There should be a setting for the air flow on all stoves and some times it should be almost closed. if it continues i would contact the stove seller and ask them.
