Question about Hotpoint WMA48 Front Load Washer

Hotpoint Aquarius Extra WMA48

The machine leaks out of the powder drawer.I have put hot water down it in case it was undissolved powder. At first this course of action worked but now it has decided it will flood every time it is used. Also it does not seem to pump all the water out of the drum.Could it be the pump needs cleaning out ? Is there a solution that could be put in the machine to clean it out and dissolve any hairs/cotton and so on ? I am quite technical so given instructions would cleaning the pump out be something i would be able to do myself ? I should mention we have dogs and the wife washed one of the dog beds some time ago.The machine is about seven years old i think. Thanks

Firstly you will need to take out the soap drawer and thoroughly clean it and the spray holes that are above the soap drawer. secondly i would reduce the cold water pressure to a fast trickle/jet that way it will not be spraying all over the place. the filter sounds as though it will need cleaning out. unplug machine, from the rear is a metal plate, remove it to gain access to the bottom hose-this incorperates the filter. undo secure jubilee clip and lower hose. remove debris and check the hose and pump for further obstructions. you should be ok after that. try to beat out the dog blankets outside b4 washing to remove as many hairs as poss. tone.

How to fix leak from soap dispensor

I assume you have water coming out of the dispenser and running down the front of the machine. You probably have a build up of soap powder in the water inlet and it is restricting the flow and backing up.
Soap powder is only partially soluble in cold water and a residue of undissolved powder builds up over time, one of the reasons I use a liquid detergent. Remove the dispenser tray, it should pull out fairly easily with just a little resistance. Try and clear any blockages, hot water is best as it dissolves better. Clean the tray you have removed and re-assemble.

Water is pouring out the detergent dispenser. Can I remove the whole unit easily?

The dispenser should be removable as it is simply a drawer. You may have to press a clip at the back in order to fully remove, but it should come out. What has probably happened is that undissolved soap powder has built up over time and has clogged up the inlet and the water is now backing up and flooding out of the drawer. This is fairly common and is one reason I use liquid detergent.
Just dig out the build up as best you can and see if you can pour some hot water down the chute and this should clear it.
While you are at it, it may be worth checking your outlet as well as modern machines tend to be only cold fill and wash at a lower temperature and the powder doesn't fully dissolve at lower you have possibly discovered.
Once all is clear, simply refit the drawer and hopefully all will be well.

Water coming out of soap tray and running down the front of the machine

Your soap tray and/or inlet is probably blocked with undissolved powder. Remove the tray and clean it. Also clean the inlet tube from the tray into the washing machine with hot water.
I, personally don't like soap powder and use a liquid or tablets because washers nowadays tend to use cold water only so doesn't fully dissolve the powder. Also the outlet to drain gets blocked along with the underground pipe to the mains sewage.

I am having a problem getting the soap powder drawer out, can you tell me what is wrong

Generally when this happens you have some old soap caked somewhere that is preventing normal action. The only fix is to pour hot water into the drawer and around the drawer until the soap is dissolved. Joe

My Zanussi FJ 1254W has suddenly started leaving lots of undissolved powder in the clothes after washing. I've checked that the filter is clean, and used Calgon though a couple of washes, but it hasn't...

Try filling it up with HOT water and vinegar use about 2 cups for a full load. Also take the hot and cold water hoses off the washer and check the screens for little sand like rocks that can block the water flow. I always use liquid and not the powder. Another thing is not to put the clothes in first. After you try the other things first then try to add the water first with the powder and then put the clothes in. Don't over load the clothes. This can cause the powder not to dissolve either. Hope this helps.

White marks on my clothes.

Are you using TOO much powder? And is the machine set to the correct rinse tempature? You mention white stuff, does it look like undissolved washing powder? Or fabric softner? Possibly try liquid detergent and see if the problem continues. And follow the recommended amounts of detergent for each wash load, and the tempature settings. And of course the water levels. All of the above are crucial to insure you get maximum preformance and utility out of your machine, with the results you expect. Let us know what you find. Kindest Regards, Slats.

Remove dispenser drawer from m/c, and thoroughly clean it and all accessories.Clean all residual build up of undesolved powder and conditioner in drawer compartment..
If it still leaks, then remove top cover, locate large black hose at bottom of dispenser, and give it a good squeeze to clear any possible blockage in the hose itself..
If still no better, could be due to exceptionally high water preesure forcing the water out of the drawer.

Turn cold water valve down a little to reduce pressure.
Plz rate my solution.
