The machine leaks out of the powder drawer.I have put hot water down it in case it was undissolved powder. At first this course of action worked but now it has decided it will flood every time it is used. Also it does not seem to pump all the water out of the drum.Could it be the pump needs cleaning out ? Is there a solution that could be put in the machine to clean it out and dissolve any hairs/cotton and so on ? I am quite technical so given instructions would cleaning the pump out be something i would be able to do myself ?
I should mention we have dogs and the wife washed one of the dog beds some time ago.The machine is about seven years old i think.

Re: Hotpoint Aquarius Extra WMA48
Firstly you will need to take out the soap drawer and thoroughly clean it and the spray holes that are above the soap drawer. secondly i would reduce the cold water pressure to a fast trickle/jet that way it will not be spraying all over the place.
the filter sounds as though it will need cleaning out. unplug machine, from the rear is a metal plate, remove it to gain access to the bottom hose-this incorperates the filter. undo secure jubilee clip and lower hose. remove debris and check the hose and pump for further obstructions. you should be ok after that. try to beat out the dog blankets outside b4 washing to remove as many hairs as poss. tone.

It's probably just caked with powder or conditioner and needs cleaned. Your handbook gives instructions on how to remove the drawer. Alternatively the dispenser to drum inlet hose may be blocked and some hot water may clear that.
Yes, this washer does have a heating element.
Make sure there is a good water pressure at the inlet valve/s,
or the powder will not dispense.
Make sure there is no blockage or obstruction in the drawer, \also make sure you have the powader in the correct compartment.
Hope this helps.
Had the same problem. I unplugged the machine from the mains. pulled it out from the unit and removed the lid. checked the black rubber hose which leads from the drawer to the drum. it was full of water. i carefully squeezed the pipe and tried to clean it out with warm water to see if it was clogged. still leaking. i then Removed the green paddle on the inside and turned the drum to line up with the black rubber hose that leads from the drawer. I very carefully used a wire coat hanger to put through the gap in the drum left by the paddle. Moved left and right, oh look.... A sock! I manipulated it out of the gap, checked the hose. Water had gone. Put everything back together. No leak. All done in under an hour :-)
Grasp the drawer firmly, and pull out until it reaches its stop, then press the plastic lever down in the middle of the drawer at the rear, and pull the drawer out.
Please rate my fixya solution.
Remove dispenser drawer from m/c, and thoroughly clean it and all accessories.Clean all residual build up of undesolved powder and conditioner in drawer compartment..
If it still leaks, then remove top cover, locate large black hose at bottom of dispenser, and give it a good squeeze to clear any possible blockage in the hose itself..
If still no better, could be due to exceptionally high water preesure forcing the water out of the drawer.
Turn cold water valve down a little to reduce pressure.
Plz rate my solution.
Depending on which compartment the powder is remaining in, it could be low water pressure causing the problem.
If it is taking some down, but not all the powder, then try putting the powder towards the front of the compartment.
If all else fails then I suggest you get one of these dispenser balls that you put straight in the drum with the washing.
Plz rate this solution.
don't think using quick wash should make a difference as water intake is the same
take drawer out and wash thoroughly especially the rinse compartment. if gunged up the water overflows the compartment and leaks down the front.
otherwise, you may have a blockage in the hose from the drawer to the tub. take top off, remove this hose and clean
disconnect from mains when you do this
