When I take a photo, then view it on the back of the screen, there is a black strip that is across one side, coming into my photo taken, If I turn my camera, it is along the bottom of the screen. When I download the photos, that same strip is there, it is ruining a lot of my close up photos causing them to have to be cropped in too tight to get rid of the the strip, or causing them to not be in alignment. This is really getting to be very frustrating...shoot after shoot, and this is still happening no matter what I try!

It sounds like your sensor is going out
in that case just take it into Nikon you can not fix the problem yourself. Call them they deliver if you send it in.

Check the depth of field preview with the lens on and the camera on. If the aperture does not react, it may be a problem with the lens rather than the camera. Check the camera with another lens if you have one.

SOURCE: Nikon D70s - all photos turn out black

A lot can be happening. Try them one at a time. If the first does nothing, go to the next.

  1. Put the camera in the "auto" exposure mode. Be sure ISO is set at 100
  2. Try a different lens.
  3. Remove the battery for 10 minutes and reinstall.
  4. Go into your menu program and press the "reset all" button to go back to factory specs.
  5. Next change your memory card.
Let me know if we need to go further.

SOURCE: My nikon D60 is taking dark photos.

The only reason the camera will be taking dark photos is when it is under exposing the image taken. This can be due to the exposure compensation set to under expose the metered exposure. Make sure the expsosure compensation is set to '0' or increase it to compensate for the dark photos.

Also inaccurately metering a scene (such as a high contrast scene) can easily fool the meter into under exposing, especially outdoors.

SOURCE: lcd display not working on nikon d40

The D40 works the same way SLRs have worked for the past half century. Only recently have dSLRs acquired a "Live-View" capability, where you see the image on the LCD monitor instead of through the viewfinder.

I realize this probably wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but that's the way it is.

Black fuzzy spot in pictures

Have you verified that it is in the picture and not the screen by transferring the photos to your computer?

You way have some dust or lint that got on the lens if the photos have that problem.

Just take an eyeglass cloth and spray wither eyeglass cleaner, or just a little dab of alcohol and then wipe the lens clean.

This is a 10mm camera right?
Then the reason is roll has been exposed to light at some point.
check your lab, they have exposed it to light, but if it happens again using a differnent lab then your camera is letting light on one side.

Black LCD Screen when trying to record new video or take new pictures.

I have the same problem. LCD & Viewfinder are black when on record mode, can only record audio. I am able to playback and watch on LCD all videos on HD and I am also able to perform all touchscreen functions on LCD. Spent 1 full hour w/ Sony tech on the phone and nothing worked. They ask for $311.00 flat fee plus any hardware replaced will be extra. Camera is 1 1/2 year old, have used it maybe 10 times and care for like a baby. Very frustrating specially when you call Sony and they have no idea.

On another forum www.camcorderinfo.com I was told to try removing the HD and reinstalling it. Since camera is out of warranty I will probably do that.

In my case the problem happened right after downloding videos to the PC.

Did you fix yours?

Screen all fuzzy when taking photo.

What you have is a CCD issue. The CCD is the part of the camera that captures the images and stores it to the card. When the CCD goes bad it does some pretty funky things, including blurry, fuzzy or other weird things when they go bad.

Here is a link to an eBay auction with a CCD on it.
