Question about Brother LS-1217 Mechanical Sewing Machine
I've already spent on tune-ups 3x what I paid for the machine. If I could learn how to fix machine myself, great! Main prob now is that tension doesn't adjust and it "sews" but often is not creating stitches. Thanks!
Ok.. that sounds like a timing problem. But let me ask you this... Do you ever turn your hand wheel backwards? If so break yourself of that habit. Turning the wheel the wrong way often throws off the timing, sometimes even breaks stuff inside.
If you have already spent 3x what you paid for the machine, donate it and get another better machine. Janome, Pfaff, Husqvarna area all better than Brother.

My machine was doing the same thing its a sunstar 340-bl.Any way it was caused by aplying to much tension. To put back in remove barrel buy undoing grub srew, once removed, barrel will have one or two screws these are what hold tension shaft under tension in place.I can not advise on how much tension as i have different machine and once you destroy your spring thats it,you need a new one.To much tension causes it to untwist.
