Question about Akai LCT2715 27 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Blinking red light, loud clicking/buzzing noise.

My set started acting strange about 20 days ago. When I turn it on it showed streaks of color. Then when I turned it on the red light would go to orange/yellow immediately. I had to turn off and then turn back on befor the green light came on and TV worked. NOW when I turn it on the red light blinks very fast and it makes a loud buzzing/clicking sound. I have reserched this and it seam to be a very common problem after 2 years of owner ship. Is this a re-call issue? If not, then who do I contact at AKAI to get this resolved.

You are right that this is a common problem for plasmas regardless of the brand. They all have similar boards on the inside that do the same thing and usually it is after a couple years of use. If your set has quiet cooling fans on the back, they after time attract alot of lint and dust and moisture from the ambient air that causes alot of y-sus and z-sus boards to fail. I would at least take the back cover off and blow out all that dust that has accumulated. If it is out of warranty as I am sure it probably is after 2 years, you certainly will not hurt anything. Call tech support at AKAI, I am sure you will not be the first to log in this complaint. Those tvs are suppose to last through 60,000 hours of use (20 years). Be firm with them and they may just give you a replacement. Some people have been successful at pleading their case after the 2 years are up on the warranty.. I hope this helped. God bless and good luck.

It has a loud buzzing noise how do I fix that problem?

It appears that your connections are not correct. Please switch off the TV. Disconnect all the cable. Wait for some time. Reconnect cables one by making sure you strictly follow the color code i.e. that red pin cable must go in the red socket. After all the cables are connected switch on the TV. Loud buzzing noise is due to wrong connection of cables especially the Earthing/Neutral

There is no reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective.

Might check fuse, R607, Q601, IC601, R612 and VDR601 (should show open).

Set was on and made a loud pop noise and the picture went off. the red light was flashing and no picture. then it made a strange buzzing type of sound a few times. turned off for a couple mins and then...

It sounds like your screen inverter has just gone >bang< unfortunately.
Most screens inside use 2 main circuit boards, and you are most likely going to have to change one of them.
It's possible also for it to have been just the backlight bulb making the loud pop noise too. The inverter may have given out too much power and blown the bulb (a lot like you hear when a house bulb goes bang).

If you can't actually hear any TV sounds (normal sounds like music, voices etc. when they should be there), then it means the problem is more serious, and would need a specialist repair place to check out the electrical circuit inside.

No Power

It's possible your TV when into protection mode. This happens when a part is burned out inside your TV to prevent further damage.
Try unplugging your TV for 30mins. Then see if the problem still occurs.
If the problem is still there, you may have to take it to a repair shop to diagnose the problem.
