Forgive my apparent stupidity, but I cannot figure out how to open the gosh darn water tank. The instructions have no diagrams or pictures, and read: "Release the tank using the red release button and extract very carefully" Okay, I can do that. Then, "Unscrew the cap to 90 degrees to release the bayonet coupling leaving the floater tube (permanent fishing tube) inside the tank, and fill the tank directly from the tap." It might as well be Greek, to me. HELP!

easy one the tank separates , there a clip that is on the flat side of the tank assembly, there is a handle to pick it up, half round handle. On the flat edge you"ll see the clip., unfasten the clip and the top and bottom separate, below is what looks like a hot water bottle, you fill that bladder with hot water, the outside plastichousing stores the dirty water, once full, a level sensor will rise and the vacuum will stop sucking! thats it!

Ensure the Dirt Devil is connected to a working power supply
if it does not turn on or operate. Check the fuse or breaker and
replace or reset as necessary.
Empty the dirty water tank if there is little or no suction.
Turn off the Dirt Devil and grab the top of the dirty water tank. Push
on the latch to release the tank and pull the tank off the base. Remove
the lid and empty the dirty water into a sink. Replace the cap and hook
the front of the tank onto the machine base. Hook the nozzle on the base
so that the nozzle is level with the cleaner base. Push the back of the
dirty water tank down and into position.
Check the dirty water tank and empty as necessary if there
is water leaking from the cleaner. Open the latch on the top of the
solution reservoir and pull the reservoir forward. Fill with Dirt Devil
brand cleaner to the fill mark. Fill the rest of the reservoir with hot
water and close the cap. Replace on the base unit.
Make sure the solution reservoir is seated firmly in the
base unit if there is no cleaning solution dispensing from the unit.
Fill the solution tank with cleaner and water if the level is low.
Examine the hose and nozzles for possible obstructions if
the carpet cleaner does not seem to be operating correctly. Remove any
Hello, I have a simular model. Here's what I do. On the fill tank (that's the top tank), look on the front and you'll see where it says "Fill Line". Fill this with hot water first (so it doesn't foam up) and then add your cleaning solution. Make sure the lid on the bottom tank is on tight. It should snap in place. Top should also snap into place. Turn on and pull trigger and move forward a few feet, let go of trigger and solution will stop coming out. Do this a few times and then without pulling trigger, go over the same area you just did to pick up water. Repeat this until you are done. When the bottom tank is full, it will sound a little loader and higher pitch. Just empty tank and put back in and continue. Hope this helps.
